Maybelline Mineral Power Naturally Luminous Blush — 

Quick View: Pretty, loose powder blush with minerals in it. But it isn't all natural so don't be fooled. Still, this blush is natural looking and very concentrated. It's OK although I can get all natural mineral blushes for the same price.

About Maybelline Mineral Power Naturally Luminous Blush

As I mentioned in my review of Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Foundation, I bought the whole line because that's how I roll when I see a cosmetic collection that appeals to me. I have loads of actual mineral blushes and like them but find many are a tad shimmery which I am not a huge fan of. This blush has minerals in it but is NOT all natural. Still, it is talc free, fragrance free, and oil free and does have some minerals in it.

The blush comes in a half dollar diameter pot with a sifter. You have to tap out some of the loose powder into the cap and swirl your brush into the blush and apply - just like you would with true mineral blush. There are about six shades from very light pink to deep plum and a really bright coral. I bought Fresh Plum because it was the only shade left. There was a buy one, get one free sale on this line and people were taking full advantage of the savings. Anyway, when I got home, I looked at the ingredients list. It was HUGE. This is so not real mineral blush! Still, I dutifully peeled the backing from the sifter holes and tapped out a bit of blush into the cap. I applied with my fluffy blush brush.

The first thing I noticed was that this blush is highly pigmented. The shade I bought, apparently, is the deepest of the shades and that could be why so little was needed to give my cheeks a deep flush. As far as the shade on my skin, it was fine. A bit bright but that is my fault for buying the only shade for dark skin in the line. (I have light to medium pale skin).

This blush wears well and isn't shimmery which is a plus. It is a tad messy compared to pressed blushes. I get the powder on my clothes and even my hair at times. I don't mind dealing with that when I am using fresh all natural mineral products but it's a tad annoying when using drugstore chemical-with-a few-minerals-in-it blush.

In all, this blush is fairly inexpensive and pretty average. I don't have any big complaints about it but I don't get warm fuzzies when I use it either. I will continue to use it in rotation with my six million other blushes but I probably won't repurchase. It just really isn't that special. It is normally priced at around $8.99.

My Viewpoint

I don't have any major complaints about this blush but, for on the go, it's messy. I like to take along a compact and touch up now and then and this is not easy to use in that way. The color does last and there is no shimmer in the shade I chose but it's not mineral blush and it ticks me off that Maybelline implies it is. It average. No big complaints, no high praise. 3 stars.

I actually almost bought this the other day when they had a 2 for one deal. I think Ill skip though, Ive always liked matte finishes... shimmer makes my skin type look greasy. lol. Stickin with my MAC. ;) Great review Patty.

I don't know why, but I don't think I would buy mineral blush from Maybellene. It just doesn't seem like it's going to be the "real" thing you know what I mean? I have rocesea and it acts up now and then. I bought myself the real mineral blush and even though the full kit cost me 70 dollars I love it!

It's OK but like you said, so so makeup is such a hassle. I think I'm going to throw out or give away all the stuff that I have but rarely use and just stick with makeup I love. I have SO much average or below average stuff hanging around.
