I've been reading lots of favorable reviews about Maybelline's new Color Sensational Lipcolor and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. CVS recently had them on sale at a Buy1 Get 1 offer so I bought them figuring I'd give the other to a friend or my sister as they are often the recipients of many of my purchases, lucky girls. What can I say, I like to share.

The case this lip color comes in is very cool looking, sleek and modern but with an 'old-fashioned' appeal as well. The cap represents the actual shade of the lipstick so all the tubes are a different color, 48 to be exact....hmmm wonder why they couldn't come up with 50.

About the formula, it's highly pigmented and quite moisturizing, it leaves a beautiful sheen to the lips and the colors are truly lovely. Maybelline catagorizes them as Pinks, Plums, Reds and Naturals. Each catagory has several shade variations to choose from, it's quite a variety and really, there's a shade for everyone no matter the tone of your complexion be it cool, warm or neutral.

Upon first application I noticed how rich this lipstick felt, creamy, moisturizing and super smooth. It packs a color punch and you only need to use one application to achieve it though it is easily buildable as well.

I will say I'm not an everyday lipstick user, I'm more of a balm and gloss girl but I do love a good lipstick once in a while and I think Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor really fits the bill.  I chose the shades of Born With It #015  from the Pinks range which is a very natural neutral tinged pink that I'm liking a lot. The other shade is Warm & Cozy # 345 which is a combination of a hint of plum with shots of pinky brown if that makes any sense at all, it's a deeper shade than Born With It but still manages to be natural looking. This lipstick has a very expensive feeling texture, something you'd expect from a Chanel or a Dior but obviously far less expensive.

Here are some of this lipsticks attributes as Maybelline explains them, after trying it I'd have to agree.  Oh by the way, I kept the second shade for myself, sorry girls, you'll have to get your own !

        "Why You'll Love It"

  • Crisper color from pure pigments
  • Creamier feel from nourishing honey nectar
  • Lipcolor so rich, so stunning... it's sensational
  • 48 Captivating Shades

If you visit http://www.maybelline.com/Product/Lip/LipColor/colorsensational-lipcolor.htm  you'll get to experience all these great shades for yourself.

If you check out the website you can see the selection, it's pretty impressive for a 'drug store' brand if you know what I mean.

I like that they have such a variety of colors. For some reason I have a hard time finding colors that work for me.
