Wouldn't have survived the first few years of motherhood w/o it!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I have used my Maya Wrap though several children and it has held up beautifully over time, the quality of the product cannot be denied. It does have a bit of a learning curve, but once you find the fit and placement that is comfortable for you and baby then it gets easier and easier to use. I have also been able to use this sling from birth until my older, special needs son was well over 30 lbs without any discomfort or pain! With my most recent baby I have found breastfeeding in it to be a breeze, so I can nurse while I am walking and moving around, making it easier to keep up with the older kids. It is also wonderful in situations where strollers are not an option, like large crowds or in stores with smaller isles. I have given one of these to many new mothers, and most find it to be a lifesave as I did. It was one of the few baby items I really needed, and have continued to need from birth and well into toddlerhood.

Couldn't parent without this

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I could not parent without this sling, I love it! I am a mother of 5 with another baby on the way and I love my Maya Sling! I didn't start baby wearing until baby #3, not sure what I did before that but here is what happened. I have a padded sling and could never get it tight enough so I though they were all horrible until one day I saw a mother with a waya wrap. I loved how close her baby was and how safe and supported baby was so, I got one!

I can nurse my baby, cuddle, carry in an upright position facing in against my chest when baby is tiny and then facing out once baby starts to control thier head. A month or so later, baby goes on the hip and you can even carry them on your back with ...

I loved my maya wrap, so easy to use and baby always fell asleep

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We purchased the maya wrap after going through a few different slings/wraps.  I have always wanted to be a "baby wearer", so this was important to me.  I have a bad back to begin with, so comfort is an issue.  Our baby loves to be held, and was not having a stroller!  I liked the maya because it was really easy to get on and off and easy to slip baby in and our of.  I did have to stop using it though, when he was around 6 months of age because he was so heavy and it was hurting my back. I never mastered the art of breastfeeding in it, and hope to do so with our next baby.  My only complaint is that it doesn't distribute the weight on both shoulders.  But it was great when he was little for sure.  I will use it when our next baby is small as well.

Great idea, but a little costly

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

The idea is great, but in my neck of the woods its around forty five to fifty dollars for this device. They work great, I have used one for all three of my kids, one of whom is now two and still loves it. My husband has even carried our four (almost five) year old around in it too, and it makes things much easier for us. But after the first go with a store bought version at fifty dollars a pop, I opted to try making my own. It cost me about fifteen dollars, and only that much because I used more expensive fabrics (one could do it with about eith to ten dollars worth of materials). It held up well, and I am still using it, two children and 5 years later.

a favorite for mom, dad AND baby - great for breastfeeding

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Maya Wrap ring slings are wonderful! They are so versatile, fit a range of sizes. Ours can be used by both myself (5'3") and my husband (6 feet). They requre some practice, but come with a very informative instructional DVD that provides all the tips and tweaks you need. When my son was born, I watched the video and popped him right in the sling. We've been using it ever since - even while I was pregnant with my second. It's the BEST for breastfeeding, because the tail can be used for coverage. It's also great as a burp cloth or blanket - lots of versatility! Now, little sister is worn daily but big brother (2.5 years old) still gets a ride in the sling from time to time when he wants "up!"

A must have for a mom of 2

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I was freaking out about the prospect of soon being a mom of a newborn and a 1 1/2 year old, and starting researching my options. I wanted a wrap-type carrier, because my first just screamed bloody murder the one time I tried to put him in a structured carrier. I wanted to make my own carrier (read: buy a length of cloth and tie it around us) but then found my Maya wrap on Craigslist for cheaper than I could buy the cloth. It was a godsend. Actually, at first, he hated it. But then another mom showed me another position to use, and it was a miracle. For the first 3 months, he immediately fell asleep in it. This allowed me to focus on my late-walking toddler. Then for a few more months, he just happily hung out and observed his world from a safe, hands-free place. This Maya wrap (or really any baby carrier) is an absolute must have for a parent with more than 1 kid. I can't tell you how much it has saved me.

Lovely sling, impossible for some to master.

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

Ahhh.... yes.... I am becoming accustomed to being the one swimming against the current. I purchased a Maya Wrap sling when my son was a newborn. Beyond watching the DVD (repeatedly), and enduring several frustrating attempts to love the thing... it went to eBay. First, the good: The construction of this sling is solid. I know as a first time mother, I was hesitant to 'wear' my son... what if he slips/jumps/wiggles/etc?!?! Yeah, funny now, but then it was a bit stressful. The Maya wrap sling was solid and the fabric feels as durable as it is lovely. The colors (and the choices) are awesome, great/colorful/vibrant, and such a nice alternative to the 'everything is pastel' world of babie...

do not have a baby without one!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I was fortunate enough to receive a Maya Wrap from a friend after the birth of my oldest.  It took a little getting used to but the learning curve is steep and within a week, I felt comfortable wearing my baby every where I went.  I continued to wear her in crowded places like the zoo and stores up until I got too far along ( and she got too heavy) in my second pregnancy.  The new baby was in the wrap from day one and is still a fan of it (she's 2) when hikes and trips to the zoo are too long for her.  The thing I love about it is that closeness that I have with both of my girls that came from wearing them.  I really believe that we all have benefitted from the wrap.  I give one to every pregnant Mama that I know!

Hands down the best baby gear I bought for my son

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Our son hated the car seat from day one and we used to have to carry him everywhere. My husband would use the bjorn but being large chested I always had a problem with it. One day in costco I was holding J as usual and a woman came up to me and said that she had seven kids (yeah 7!) and the maya wrap saved her life. I ordered one that day and almost a year and half later I haven't looked back! J is so much happier when we are out and about being worn and I got my hands back to actually do stuff!

J is 18 months, 30lbs and still fits comfortably in maya wrap. I keep him in a hip carry most of the time but also use the back carry when he gets bored or the front carry when he's sleeping. I us...

Maya wrap baby sling helped me AP my baby easily!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I loved my Maya wrap baby sling! It was so easy to use and grew with the baby.  I could breastfeed inconspicuously without having to hang blankets that would slip all over the baby.  I loved that as the baby got bigger, there were more choices for positioning the baby and sling to meet the different carrying needs.  The fact that it came with not only instructions but a VHS/DVD, helped me be able to go back and review different uses as well as trouble-shoot any problems I was encountering.  The Maya wrap baby sling was a real life saver with my babies that were more colicy or during clingy times.

Beautiful, but not practical for me

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

I wanted to love this SO much!  I used a Baby Bjorn with my first two children, and it worked very well.  It was comfortable, safe, and cute, but . . . not exactly the most stylish thing around.  With my third baby, I decided I wanted to be one of those gorgeous moms you see walking around wearing their babies in beautiful fabric slings.  I put aside my denim Baby Bjorn and settled on a Maya Wrap in beautiful shades blue and green.  I was ready to be a stylin' mom!

Alas, it was not meant to be.  Despite studying the instructions and watching videos, I was never really comfortable using this.  It was hard get my baby in the right position, a...

Great for mamas of toddlers

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I have several carriers, and use them regularly. This one, however, stood above the rest for my little one once she hit 9 months and above, and wanted to be carried on my hip, wherever I went. It was easy to grab, plop her in, adjust just a bit, and voila, we were comfortable, even if I needed to have her in there for hours.

Some of my favorite things about this carrier are: the zipper is handy for your wallet, keys, pacifiers, tissues, etc., the fabric is washable, the sling is so adjustable because of the rings that it can fit just about any body type, the baby is comfortable and feels secure, it can keep your baby extra warm if needed, the long tail can be used as a sun shield, nursing c...

I found it had limited use compared to other carriers.

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

When my daughter was first born, I only used the Maya Wrap. I liked the design and fabric and to me it seemed more "natural" than other carriers since it most resembles a womb. I figured this meant that my daughter would feel most comfortable in it. Indeed, she never really complained and seemed comfortable.

However, I often felt a little uncomfortable when wearing my daughter because I was never sure if she was secure. I studied the instructional DVD and practiced on teddy bears, but I must admit, I never got the hang of it. As my baby got heavier, I found that the sling wrap became less and less practical as well, and I was opting for the front and back carriers to save my back. (Se...

I worship my Maya Ring Sling

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I started using the ring sling with my oldest... it was perfect! I would throw some wipes and a diaper in the pocket and we would be out and about for the day.

When my twins were born it was one of my most valuable items. They were in the NICU for 36days and when they got home they both had attachement issues. One also has a severe dairy allergy and before we found this out- he would scream in agony for hours unless he was in the ring sling.

I don't like that it can't be dried in the dryer but in the summer- I love seeing it flap on the line. I also never figured out how to nurse a younger baby in it-- I only nursed my toddler in it a few times. Despite these few disagreements with the product- I recommend it to everyone!

Maya Wrap is a must have!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I've used my maya wrap through 2 children so far and I can't imagine not using a baby carrier! With my first, I only used this and didn't use my stroller unless/until I was looking for a more aerobic walk. I often used it with my second, out of necessity (to keep him safe and to be able to hold him). I loved being able to snuggle my newborn for longer, keeping him out of people's reach (and no one could snatch him away to hold him). It made going to the park a snap- so I could always be within arms reach of both of my small children. It helped me get household chores done and it calmed a fussy baby. It is very well made and looks brand new after being used for so long. It is very study and I...
