Most HelpfulI learned about this unstructured ring-sling style carrier when my baby was about three months old. Until then, I used a Baby Bjorn to carry her but it was starting to get painful as she got heavier. The Maya Wrap caught my eye because the fabric was gorgeous, and I saw a petite young woman using one...

Most HelpfulI am an experienced baby-wearer who has owned about 10 different slings, wraps, pouches, and back carriers. The Maya Wrap was the best, most versatile, most comfortable, easiest to use product I owned. Beyond early infancy, it was always my first choice.
It is lightweight, making it very portable, good for all temperatures/seasons, and comfortable to wear without the child in it (important with toddlers who are in and out a lot). It is also very easty to easy to pop a child in/out of the Maya Wrap, even a sleeping baby.
It's also really comfortable. It doesn't have any padding in the shoulder...
review »This is a product that one would expect a mother to review, but being a father of three young kids, I have to say that the Maya Wrap exceeded all of my expectations. When I first saw this "long piece of cloth with two sizable metal rings at one end" I was skeptical. Being a tech geek, I tend to gravitate to more contemporary solutions to age old problems - surely the Baby Bjorn type carriers (we did own a carrier from Medela - but did not find it as useful or comfortable) are more comfortable and practical than a simple piece of cloth from ages past. I was flat wrong!
After watching the video that...
review »I had a 26 week premature baby and bought the Maya Wrap from the lactation consultant in the hospital. It came highly recommended and I am very happy with it. It was great to wear my baby everywhere. I kangarooed him in the NICU every day of the 97 days he was in the hospital so wearing him was very important for both of us. He thrived on being worn and this wrap made it very easy. It was great for him as a very tiny baby when he first got home until much larger and he would often sleep while I was wearing him. It makes nursing easy and descrete. I also liked that it helps keep people...
review »Like a lot of moms, I am overweight. The package said that I could wear it, but it was too uncomfortable. Everytime I leaned over, I felt like my baby was going to hit the floor. I am not sure if it was because of my weight or the product's design.
My current Maya Wrap is my 3rd sling, and I really love it. I had used the Over the Shoulder Baby Holder prior to this, and like that a lot also. However, the Maya Wrap has a simpler overall design and I have become used to the lack of padding. I used this sling with my 3rd child from when he was a newborn until he was over 2 years old, and am now using it with my new baby.
I find this sling to be extremely durable. It is showing very little wear after 3 years of constant use. It contains a pocket in its "tail" -- the fabric that hangs down through the rings -- which is great for putting...
review »With my first (colicky!) baby, I spent the first 6 months of his life in a rocking chair while I watched the dirty dishes pile up. So, when we were expecting baby #2, I looked on-line for ways to carry my baby and found Maya Wrap. Absolutely awesome! Nicholas was in the baby sling from the first week after birth until he was 2 1/2 and determined to run. I loved the flexibility--with an endless variety of ways to hold him, I was sure to find a way he liked to be held, whether he was sleeping or up and looking around. And, there was peace of mind--I always knew where he was, that he was...
