Looks good, but isn't easy to use

3

I struggled with this thing for the 11 months! First and foremost, it is important to note that this seat is great aesthetically. We got SO many complements on it. Plus I've never seen another one around. Its rarity has made it a bit of a novelty. Ours is a vibrant blue and black. (But from what I can tell it isn't being manufactured in that color scheme anymore). The seat feel like it is well constructed and solid, but my frustration comes from it's functionality. For starters, taking the seat on and off of the base has been MISERABLE! It usually takes several tries (and brute strength) to get the thing on, or off. Because of this, I never really used it as an infant carrier. It was just too much of a struggle! However, there has been a recall on the base because of this and I expect to have a new one soon. We'll see... Also the bottom (crotch) portion of the 5 point harness is hard to use. You have to hold both sides together, and then snap them into the buckle simultaneously. They are forever slipping apart, making it a challenge especially with squirming kid. Also, it has a tendency to catch the babies' clothing. When this happens it won't snap. You have to pull the two (slippery) pieces together, push the babies' clothes out of the way, AND hold on to the buckle, all at the same time. It can be a challenge even when there is another adult there to help! We have it in a VW Jetta, and while it fits in the back seat there isn't any room to spare. Also the passenger in the front sear has to forward in order to accommodate the baby seat in the (middle) of the back seat. Also, the few times we did carry it around as a carrier the sunshade fell down bellow the seat and ended up dragging along the ground. The only solutions were to remove it and carry it around with us separately, or to hold it up in your hand that is holding the handle (very awkward).

Easy to use, extremely sturdy and cute too!

LOVE,LOVE,LOVE!  One of the items my husband and I hunted for the most while we were expecting our little one was a car seat.  After much deliberation and testing out so many (even making a 2 hour road trip north to see this specific car seat in person) we settled on the Maxi-Cosi Mico.  It is attractive, durable and easy to install.  Though larger than other car seats, it fit perfectly into our Honda Accord.  Also, once the base is installed, this car seat was so easy to pop in and out of the base.  The car seat also seems so sturdy and safe.  When we took the car seat to the hospital to get checked by the safety team, the installer checking ours mentioned it was one of the safest looking and best car seats she'd ever seen.  It is heavy, and I had to carry it up and down the steps to our home each day.  Though heavy, it was easy to carry and helped me build my biceps.  (That is the silver lining!) We also bought the Maxi-Cosi Perle stroller and used this as a travel system for the first five months.  It was an easy system, not too bulky and very easy to get in and out of stores with.  I am so happy we put so much research into this decision!

A great infant seat for owner's of Quinny strollers

Let's face it, if you're an owner of a Quinny stroller and you want to have the ease of using the car seat with your stroller, you're going to own a Maxi Cosi because it's the only infant seat that is currently compatible with their strollers.  Knowing that it is a well-made, safe seat, and that we owned both the Buzz and Zapp stroller and wanted to compatability, we knew we were going to be purchasing this infant seat.  Like most first-time parents, it took us a few times to get the hang of strapping our child in the seat, as well as some time figuring out how to get it in the car seat base just right so that it clicked properly into place.  Over time, it all became second nature, but I will say it's probably not the easiest infant seat out there to use.  The most frustrating thing we dealt with was that the strap could get twisted very easily and it required removing our son from the seat to get them straightened again.  However, the positive of being able to take him straight from the car and popping his car seat into our stroller frame was worth the little frustrations.  It wasn't long though before we moved him up into a Britax Convertible seat.

I got tthe maxi cosi MICO carseat (the title for some reason says micro which is wrong) in happy flowers for my daughter and I love it. As a previous poster said the buckle was tricky at first but got used to it quickly. Trying to figure out how to get the next carseat up in a cute color from Europe! The only issue I have with the carseat is that it doesnt really fit nicely on the grocery cart.

Easy & safe

I love our Maxi Cosi car seat.  We've been using it since my daughter was born and she just turned one.  It's pretty light weight (for a carseat), clicks in easily and seems to be more roomy for her than many of her friend's carseats.  Best of all, it's been great to have the Maxi Cosi stroller that fits with the seat.  The whole system works more or less like the Bugaboo but for a fraction of the cost.   The one downside, and I think this is a downside of any car seat, was that my husband and I spent a while figuring out how to install it.  And then, after all our work, we went to have it checked at our local police department and it turned out we had it in wrong and it had to be taken out and re-done.  So I guess the moral of that story is that it really is important to go have the carseats checked by someone who knows what they're looking at. Overall though, I highly recommend the Maxi Cosi Micro and the stroller too!!

Light weight, comfortable, easy to use.

I did a lot of research on car seats before purchasing a set for my twins. I wanted seats that would offer excellent safety and protection while still being light-weight enough to carry (I have to carry two afterall.) I found that Graco carseats were using cheaper fabrics that didn't seem as breathable or comfortable for baby. They were also heavier and more cumbersome. The Mico Maxi Cosi is made of high-quality materials, comes in modern, vibrant colors, and offers superior safety. It also included a newborn insert which came in very handy for my very small twins. My only complaint is that the the harness is a pain to snap as you have to align the two clasps before you can snap them into the buckle. Otherwise, I was very happy with these carseats and recommend them to all my expecting friends.

Great so far

When we were looking for a car seat, our biggest focus was to get one that allows us to fit three car seats in the back of our car. It was either that we would upgrade the easy-manuevering sedan for a very big mini-van. My wife is not excited about mini-vans so we decided to try to get some car seats that can make it work. Needlesstosay, the 17" base really allows us some wiggle room but unfortunately, we realized that we needed to think of three car seats when we had number two, because even with the Maxi Cosi Mico, our other carseat and booster are too wide and bulky to try to fit a third car seat in the back. However, the Maxi Cosi Mico has been a great addition to our car seat arsenal but it appears that if you are trying to fit three car seats in the back of a car, you will need to purchase at least one other smaller car seat (we are thinking of the sunshine radian). Great car seat, nice features, wish the release lever/switch was on the seat and not on the base, but it works for us!

Love this car seat!

Everything about this carseat is great!  The handle does not hurt your arm half as much as most of the other carseats do.  It also appears to be a lot more comfortable than others as well.  I really appreciate the 5-point harness too!  The straps and everything as so easy to adjust.  Taking the car seat apart to clean is also very easy.  I get compliments on this carseat all the time for it being very stlyish.

I wanted to love this car seat!

Before having our baby I had researched car seats and decided after long deliberation that this was the one I wanted to go with. It was expensive but worth it. Then our baby came. And at three weeks he was already getting pretty tight in it. The buckles or harness are hard to use compared to the other one we were using. The only plus side to the car seat was the fact that it was light so it was easier to carry our baby around when he had fallen asleep. It also looks cool which I must admit was the one thing that drew me to it in the first place! I don't think I could recommend this to other parents just because of its sizing. If you end up with a smaller sized baby it would be more worth the money but it is a car seat that is easy to grow out of because it is not deep enough for the larger and longer babies! It also isn't compatible with that many strollers, and when used with the Quinny Buzz chassis it is hard to get it to click!
