This mattress was incredibly comfortable in the store. Once we got it home, it was hard as a rock! We've had it now for about 2 1/2 years and it is one of the most comfortable beds I've ever had! We did get the mattress pad for it and that was also hard at first. It did soften up as well. I love the ticking that is on the IKEA mattresses. It's so soft. my husband and i bought and tried about 6 mattress sets before deciding to try select comfort air mattress. we bought the king size and immediately thought it was the best mattress ever. not only is each side adjustable but it is so light to lift for seasonal bedskirt changes. we had the top mattress for a few years before we purchased the 'box' for under the top. i didn't see a huge difference with our old boxspring and the select comfort one. we have had this set for almost 20 years and never regretted our purchase. i, personally would never have… read full review »

We have had this bed for a couple of years. It is nothing but trouble and pain. The seprate chambers allow you to sleep at different firm or soft levels,ok and keep you on oppsite sides of the bed! If one of us trys to sleep next to the other one then we have to lay in the ditch in between! The foam cover that went over the air chambers ripped after the first year. We diddnt even try to get it replaced because the general concept of the bed is each side can be pumped up or down,so imagine folding a piece of paper in half over and over,it will rip just like that foam cover! We had the same problem. We call the company in and they evaluated the mattress with some string and a ruler. After they took all kinds of measurements, they said that there was nothing wrong with the mattress. Then we showed him how the mattress was actually tilted toward the middle of the bed with a long piece of thin wood. After hearing and seeing our complaints they gave us a credit for the mattress. However, we had to buy from the same manufacturer. It has since been a year and even with the new mattress we are stll having the same issues. We are always waking up with back problems.
