Before you buy that bed, slow down

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Buying a new bed is one of the more significant purchase decisions we make. Sure,we spend more money on a house or a car, but neither of these purchases can so directly affect our actual well-being as can a bed. You know what they say. "You spend one third of your life sleeping". Oh yeah? Who says? I don't think I spend a quarter of my life sleeping. Six hours? A monumental waste of time if you ask me. But don't ask me to compromise the comfort in which I sleep.

Most of us buy only a relative handful of beds in our lifetimes. Today, with new sleep technologies available and prices of quality beds (as well as some shoddy beds) often exceeding $3,000, it's more important than ever to ...

I highly recommend a trial period for any mattress that you buy.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

My husband and I purchased a Select Comfort mattress last year.  There is a 30 day trial period on these beds, but the thing they do not like to tell you up front is that the delivery costs to return the item should you be unhappy with the mattress costs around $150.  When I went to purchase the bed, I did not have my husband with me.  That was a grave mistake.  Since we have had the mattress, he has been very unhappy with his sleep quality and the trial time has long passed.  I had trouble with the digital pump system, and called the customer support number about this.  They were very friendly, but did not answer my questions or concerns in the way I would have liked them to.  A fair warning to all who are looking to purchase a new mattress set - be as informed as possible about the products out there and do not just trust one person's opinion!!

Buy the highest quality you can afford!!!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

It's a nightmare to buy a mattress for most of us.There are so many different kinds in the market with different price ranges. The most important point is shop at a store you know and trust to give you good information, good service and top quality products.Look for educated salespeople who can guide you through the many choices. If you don't feel your salesperson is knowledgeable or helpful, take your business elsewhere. If you're a shopper who likes to compare, becareful. When comparing, remember that a "bargain" mattress and foundation are no bargain when it comes to getting a good night's sleep. Shop for the best value, not the lowest price. And, buy the best you can afford. Con...

Take your time when buying a mattress

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Mattress buying is so hard, how do you decide in one day which mattress is right for you? Questions you can go over before you go to the store:   What is the brand of mattress I am now sleeping on?  Do I like the mattress I now sleep on, is it to hard/soft, is it the right thickness, how about the way it sits, on the edge of the bed?  Do I need to replace the box-springs?  Never go on a day when you feel  tense or in a bad mood.  Have a lite lunch and go after that. Better to have one store already chosen and avoid going to different places. First tell the sales person you will let them know if they can help, you d...

If you want soft, try the soft - one right after the other

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

We recently bought a new mattress. We tried several "firm" and decided against that. Then we tried "medium" and "soft". Decide which category you want and then concentrate only on that category. Then try two, say firm, eliminate one. Then try another firm and compare again, eliminating one, etc until you have it narrowed down to two or three. Then making the final decision will be easier.Keep in mind this is a long process. You need to lay on each mattress about 10 minutes in each position you sleep in. You might even want to bring your own pillow. Get comfortable. If you have a partner, make sure you both lay on each mattress together. Do you feel the other person's movements? Does that matter? Ask these and whatever other questions you have. If the sales person is any good, s/he will leave you to try them out and be around for questions.

Limited to one sentence? This will take some thought

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

When shopping for a mattress do your homework before you leave the house. You need to know the difference in how they are made so you know what is should cost you. They will not be as informative in the showrooms as the interenet will be, and its unbiased (mostly). Determine your price range ( size not quality) then look up appox. prices of those sizes. There are 3 different types of mattress really. Coil springs, Foam, and springs that aren't made of coil. Sure there are pillow tops verses non-pillow tops, and there are adjustable beds. Those you can decide when you see them. Some lines make firmer beds (sealy uses a different kind of coil on some) and spring air uses your typical coil spring but is extremly soft, like being on a cloud, I should add more to this later but am being bugged by my child.

Mattress tips that will help you choose a good night's sleep!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

The mattress buying tips are very helpful and will allow anyone who is looking for a good night's sleep to choose the best mattress that will meet their needs. Choices can be made depending on your sleeping style; from sleeping on your back, sleeping on your side, or just plain sleeping on your stomach. These tips can be given by salepersons, online websites, or by simply researching them yourself. Different types of mattresses exist, such as Sealy posturepedic, Sleep number bed, and Tempurepedic. The Sealy posturepedic is very comfortable and adjusts to the shape of your body. The sleep number bed adjust the height and hardness or softness of the mattress and meets every body's needs. The Tempurepedic is quite possibly the best mattress around with it's NASA developed memory foam that conforms to your body's shape and its resistance to movement and vibrations, helping you obtain that good night's sleep you have been craving for!

It's like sleeping on clouds!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

This Mattress is wonderful, exscially if you have a full bed with a husband a two kids that won't sleep in there own bed! It's very affordable and comfrotable. IT's lasted me a long time! I you don't want to make your bed, then don't nobody is making you! Enjoy your bed and relax. It's a comfort zone for relaxation! I take quit a few naps in mine while my kids sleepin beside me. It must be why they sleep in my bed instead of there's they don't have the same mattress as mine. That is a proven fact right there. The kids saying my bed is moe comfy then there's, I guess we will have to buy more of these mattresses for there bed frames. It's nice to know these mattresses are so great. I can't wait until the end of the day to slip into my pj's and just lounge on my comfy mattress. I love to watch television in it too. It dosen't hurt my back at all to be in it. It's so great I hope you all get one..........Oh make sure you get one for the kids to or you will have a full bed!

It was so easy at Sleepys!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I recently needed a new mattress and Box.  We previoulsy had purchased a set at Sleepys 11 years ago. The process of picking out a set has really changed. The salesman took my wife and myself a mattress hooked up to a computer. It evaluated our bodies at rest and gave recommendation on what type of mattress to purchase for a good night sleep. I can tell you it was on the mark because I'm sleeping like a baby now. The salesman listed to what we needed and how much willing to spend. He showed us different brands and let both of us try out the mattresses. He let us try ones that were either to soft or to firm so we realized what mattress was good for us. The Sleepys saleman was a real professional because he listened!

Honest Mattress Expectations!!!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

On-line mattress reviews, for the most part, are the same as many other on-line reviews.  Most satisfied consumers don't feel the need to rave about their experience, while the unsatisfied use forums like this to vent their frustrations.  As a veteran in the business, I thought I'd share my experience on a couple of topics.  Hopefully it helps those reading and doing their homework on-line!

  • Warning to those buying pillowtop mattresses.   No matter the brand, or the price of the pillow-top mattress you select, there is a high likelihood that the pillow-top mattress will compress between 1/2 and 1 inch within the first 3 months.  There can be up to 8 or m...

Get caught sleeping on the job!

    Overall
    Rated 5 out of 5

My parents owned several bed stores when I was a teenager.  One very common mistake people make when shopping for a new mattress is they do not get on the bed and lay in a position that they would normally sleep.  Maybe it's a little too personal....having a stranger standing at the foot of the bed, talking to you, looking down at you while you are in a vunerable position.  Get dressed for the occasion.  Don't shop when you are wearing a dress or business clothes.  Who can get comfortable with a belt and hard shoes on?  This is one shopping trip you need to plan for.

  • Find a babysitter.  You cannot relax if your two year old is running all over t...

I love it, but wish I'd known more

    Overall
    Rated 1 out of 5

When buying a "pillow top" mattress, do your homework. I wish I had. At the showroom, I tried a pillow top for about ten minutes. It was so very comfortable! Although the price was high, i felt that this would really meet my needs. Three months after the purchase, I felt like there was a weakness in the middle of the mattress. Three months later, the weakness showed when making the bed. It looked like a pothole! When getting into bed, I rolled into this weakness. Although I received a brand new mattress, I'm finding the same problem with this one. My suggestion would be to buy a regular mattress and then place a pillow-like top on the top. I understand from others than this is a flaw with pillow top mattresses.

    laying in paradise

    Overall
    Rated 5 out of 5

    Hello,

My name is Louie Grine, I am going to give you my view points on looking for a mattress. You see all this nice beds and say aww wow how nice, it is so comfy, but really how long does it stay comfy? there are many basic things that you are going to ask yourself about what you are going to buy. but jump to the point when you are looking for the right mattress, and of course lay down on it trying to get a feel for it, kind of like going on a first date and getting the first kiss, then saying this person is a keeper, or this person doesn't hit the spot for me. I encourage you all to get a feel for it, and ask them simple questions, its important that you got what you are looking for, because without the right comfort, well there will be no laying in paradise, and this mattress is paradise!!!

Tonight I plan to sleep eight straight hours!

    Overall
    Rated 4 out of 5

    The Product Everyone Sleeps On

After an 8 hour day at the office, shopping, fixing dinner, washing dishes and watching some television I am ready for a good night's sleep. Comfort and sturdiness are the two key features I look for in a mattress and when I turn over onto my stomach and hug my pillow, I know my dreams are not too far in the distance.

It is important to take care of your mattress investment by encasing it with a mattress cover designed to keep out dust mites. The fecal matter from dozens of these creatures over the years can add several pounds to your mattress. I feel it is important to care for your mattress by vacuuming it once a week and covering it with a clean mattress pad and sheets.  It is equally important to turn the mattress over every month to allow it to wear evenly thereby extending the life of this product.

Any item worth the investment is worth taking a few steps of care for the same.

Shop around and do your research

    Overall
    Rated 4 out of 5

***I recently bought a new mattress set and found it very difficult and confusing.  I don't know much about beds, etc.  So I made sure I did my research so that I knew I wouldn't be getting ripped off and getting the quality for the right price.  Make sure you shop around at other places because you may think all places are the same but they are not.  They will try to trick you into thinking that they have "specially" made beds just for their company but it's not true.  They just have different names for their beds!  Also, I found that if you are working with a mattress company if you find a better deal on the same bed somewhere else get documentation of that de...
