Mattel Toss Across Game Review Summary
Many of our reviewers have fond memories of their childhood playing the popular
Mattel Toss Across Game but are finding that their memories may not live up to the experience with their own children. The Toss Across game may be played indoors or out and is a version of Tic Tac Toe where children throw bean bags at the nine squared “board” trying to reach three in a row. The major complaint with this toy is that the bags are not sturdy enough to turn over the squares and many children become bored or frustrated with the effort long before the game is over. Other reviewers say that it “takes up too much space when stored.” Those reviewers who still enjoy this game and play it with their children appreciate the gross motor skills that they can learn as well as competition. One reviewer sums it up with, “It is fairly durable and brightly colored, and It's a nice blast from the past for me and has taught my kids the classic tic tac toe.” Read more

My husband got this toy for his older kids a couple of years ago, but they didn't like it, and since me and my husband like to play it, we saved it, we also decided to save it because it was new, and we were planning on having a child of our own, so now that our daughter is 2 yrs old, she…

Critical Review
I saw this game at Wal-Mart last December when i was doing some last minute Christmas shopping for my boys. They both like playing Tic-Tac-Toe, so I thought this would be a perfect game for them to share. The concept is a good one but unfortunately, it doesn't work as it should. —…

This game has been around ,for a long time,Yes it is big and bulky so for us it made a great outdoor toy, — We have used at our elem. school bazarrs and church funtions for games in a limited space.(kids just love throwing those bean bags, and adults to....) — I store this in our shed hangs nicely on a large nail up off the floor. When my children were young this made a fun and cheap outdoor toy. — I would recommend this inexpensive toy,if you have the storage spage or a nice space to tuck under the bed. —…

experienced parent, fan of hassle-free toys, not rich
My daughter got this game last year, and it looked SOOO exciting. But as soon as we finished assembling it, we realized that this isn't the great toy it looked like. First of all, kids don't aim all that well with a little beanbag, and when they do, the numbers don't always turn in their favor. My kids haven't played a single successful game in the whole year I've had it. It is also extremely bulky and difficult to store. For what it is, it shouldn't take so much space in the closet. I'm still hoping they'll get to use it at some carnival they'll make for the neighborhood one day. I would not…

happy to play with my kids, a believer in creative toys, a fan of educational toys, experienced parent
I actually bought this game at a yard sale for .25 but it didnt have any of the bean bags so I made my own. I bought it because at the time my daughter needed to do things to exercise her eyes and I thought this would be a fun game for that. It was so boring though really. She liked it somewhat but I had to keep going and getting the beanbag back from underneath and giving it to her over and over so it was just annoying.…

I had this toy as a kid, so I thought my kids would like it as much as I did. It seems a bit smaller than I remember but it was still fun to play with my daughterr, but we'll probably enjoy it more when the kids are a little older. It is fairly durable and brightly colored, and it is easy to store. It's a nice blast from the past for me and has taught my kids the classic tic tac toe…

We had this toy in a daycare that I worked in. The 3-5 year olds loved it and it was used alot. It promotes large motor skills as well as friendly competition. Fairly durable but don't let it get wet. The stickers will come off. Younger kids liked to play with it too. It's good for learning to aim if nothing else. It is kinda bulky and hard to…

This game looks like fun, it's inexpensive and it's a great concept but the product is poorly made. The squares don't turn, the stickers peal and the bean bags leak. Ours became one of those toys that mysteriously disappeared on trash day. All in all, don't waste your money. —…

happy to play with my kids, cost-conscious
My daughter received this as a birthday gift. After playing with it a few times, she quickly was bored. The squares do not turn over even when a beanbag hits it. I left it outside & the stickers all peeled off. I just tossed it into the recycle…

a fan of educational toys, buying for durability, care about family, a bargain hunter, married
What a boring game! it can take forever for the kids to aim at all the squares, the squares don't turn easily, and they just get discouraged and stop playing soon. Hard to store, and really, it's a toy that serves no educational or "just for fun"…

looking for durability, stay at home mom, avoiding noisy toys
This is a fun game for the young and the young at heart. My little kids have had fun with it, but adults also have a good time. The only problems is that it's more chance than anything as far as turning the squares over to get three in a row, but other than that, it's been…
