I've subscribed to Martha Stewart Living Magazine for at least 6 years now. I always enjoyed her original show (not the new talk-show format) and wanted to learn more about the cooking, decorating, gardening, and other entertaining ideas that she had to share.
Over the past couple of years, though, there has been quite a change in the Martha Stewart Living Magazine. Instead of focusing on seasonal decorating, cooking, gardening, and entertaining, now most of the pages are devoted to advertisements designed as little "blurb" ads, health/beauty articles, craft projects, etc. I've always loved reading the article that featured a person entertaining family/friends at their home with a meal featuring in-season ingredients. It gave information about the person, the home decor, and, of course, the delicious meal. I was shocked to see that the October 2009 issue didn't contain one!
I've noticed that over the years (since Martha stepped down as Editor-In-Chief shortly before she went to jail), Martha Stewart Living has tried to become more of a women's magazine that covers many different aspects of life rather than just focusing on cooking, decor, and great tips for entertaining. At about $50 per year, this isn't a cheap magazine subscription and I won't be renewing for next year. It isn't a completely horrible magazine, but the focus is too broad for my interests these days. No thanks!
