Marley and Me: Life and love with the world's worst dog
by
John Grogan

Marley and Me is a book that has been around for a few years and I just have never got around to reading.  When it was given to me by a friend who said it was a quick and easy read, I decided to dive in. As a proud owner of a loving, howling Beagle and rambunctious Puggle, I was excited to read the misadventures of another dog owner and his beloved friend.

John Grogan recalls many years with his great friend Marley, a yellow lab who is the most adorable, quirky  dog ever!  Petrified of thunderstorms, Marley will stop at nothing...

Dogs can cause both grief and happiness and one dog lover who knows what it's like to live life on the edge is author John Grogan. He spent many years with a large yellow Labrador Retriever that disobeyed all commands and made a complete mess out of anything within his reach and even several things out of his reach. He had so much to say that he wrote a book about his experience. It is called Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog, a book about a man, his family, and the out- of- control canine beast that occupied their homes and hearts for more than a decade.

I bought Marley & Me as a joke for my cousin.  She has a wild Chocolate Lab that destroys things, hates/fears men, runs away at every opportunity, etc. who just happens to be named "Marley".  When I saw the subtitle: "life and love with the world's worst dog", I tossed the book in the cart and decided to include it as part of her upcoming birthday present.  That was two years ago.  For whatever reason, she didn't get around to reading it until this past fall and then didn't pass it along to me until a few days ago.  I started the book yesterday afternoon and finished it earlier this evening. ...

I am the type of person who has to really "get into" a book to enjoy it.  It has to be one of the books I just can't put down or else it bores me to tears. This book was excellent! It is both a comedy and a tear-jerker. It will help you get into check with your emotions. You will be in love with the dog, Marley in no time. The author is excellent at setting up the scene and describing the surroundings so you feel like you are there. You will not be able to put this book down and you'll finish it in no time. You will not be sorry you read Marley and Me!!

This book was selected last year as one of our book club picks.  I was not altogether gung ho about this one when I saw the cover, because I have had one too many run-ins with cheesy animal stories, and while I love animals, the cheese gets to me.

Well, okay, it was a little cheesy, but a book involving animals?  You know there's going to be a little bit of cheese.  But it's good cheese, like Gouda, or Havarti, or Jalapeno Jack.  Maybe even a high quality colby.

It's not plastic-wrapped American.

Okay, enough about cheese, but with all of the things that Marley puts in his mouth, it's got me thinking...

I just got done with this game last night and I couldn't have asked for more. One of the best looking games have ever seen. Great story. For all the action that was going on on screen only once did I notice any slowdown. Games like this will keep the 360 at the top of my systems. I have not 1 single complant about this game. Can't wait for the Gears 3. Also the new weapons were fantastic. You must play!!! I just got done with this game last night and I couldn't have asked for more. this book was wonderful from beginning to end.  my husband's mom actually bought it for him, but i read it first.  i loved it so much, and have read it again already.  when you have pets in the family, you always notice the quirky (there's no other word for it) things they do.  we started letting my dog Sam drink water out of the faucet from the bath tub, and now Sam will stand there waiting for you to turn on the faucet so he can get a drink...completely ignoring the water bowl that is full.  we've had him for over two years, and i read this book about half a year ago.  in the book marley...

One of the greatest books I have ever read.  Marley and Me will take you inside the relationship of a family and it's dog.  More so, the owner and his dog.  It will bring you the highs and lows of love, ownership, and fun living.  It will r bring you to tears.  If you or anyone you know owns (and loves) a dog or other animal, this book is a must read.

Marley and Me carries you from single, dating puppyhood to married with kids dog ownership to saying goodbye to an old friend.  Fantastically and vividly written, you feel like you are there, walking Marley and cuddling with him on the living...

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST HEART WARMING AND BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ. I COULD RELATE AS BEING A ANIMAL LOVER AND IT MADE ME FEEL EVERY EMOTION. IT MADE ME LAUGH IT MADE ME CRY AND TO ME YOU CANT ASK FOR A BETTER BOOK THEN THAT. I FELT LIKE IT TAUGHT YOU LIFE LESSONS AND THAT IT MADE ME SIT BACK AND LOOK AT WHAT IS IMPORTANT IN LIFE. IT WAS EASY READING EXCELLENT TO FOLLOW AND HIS DESCRIPTION OF THE CHARACTERS WAS SO GOOD. THE BOOK MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS PART OF HIS FAMILY AND WAS RIGHT THERE. I LIKED IT SO WELL THAT I BOUGHT SEVERAL COPIES AND GAVE THEM TO MY ANIMAL FRIEND LOVERS.

This was the best book I've read in a long time.  It was written so truthfully and descriptively that you could see the events taking place right there in front of you.  The author did a great job of bringing you into the story so that when the characters felt joy and happiness, you were laughing with them, and when they felt tragedies, you were crying with them.  This was an incredibly sweet and touching book.

Marley and Me is intertainment for the entire family.  I look for movies to have a "family

movie" night and this fit the bill.  I have little ones and grade schoolers and a teen.  It is easy for the little ones to keep up with the lovable dogs antics and still funny enough to not be too "kid stuff" for the older child.

My mom gave me this book to read and I finished it in one day.  Every page had experiences that any dog owner has probably gone through.  Even on their most destructive days you can never imagine your life with out a puppy in it and this book made me want several more.

I think that this is a really good book. However, the ending was so sad, that it made me cry! I would reccomend this book to any adult, but I might not reccomend it to a child, because the end is so sad. It is a very well written book, and an easy read.
