Marie Callender's Pasta Al Dente Rigatoni con Pesce Review

I'm all about trying new products, especially if they are time-savers for a busy mom like me.  So when I saw the newest product from Marie Callender's, Pasta Al Dente Rigatoni con Pesce, I snapped it right up.  Okay, so I may not be able to pronounce the name of the product, but the savory looking picture on the front of the package definitely caught my eye. 

Like the latest product line from Healthy Choice, Cafe Steamers, this frozen meal from Marie Callender's is a one serving entree that is steamed inside the microwave.    You simply remove the bowl from box and place it in the microwave for 3.5 to 4 minutes.  Unlike many microwave meals, you DO NOT puncture the film that covers the entree. 

The shrimp, peas, and rigatoni pasta are in a vented steamer basket on the top, while the creamy lobster sauce remains in the bottom bowl.  When the product has finished cooking, you remove the steamer basket and stir the contents into the cream sauce in the bottom bowl.  Super easy! 

I found this meal to be very tasty and filling.  Unlike other microwavable meals that I have tried, there were plenty of shrimp to keep me satisfied and the sauce was just right - not too much or not too little.  The pasta really was al dente and not overcooked.  Marie Callender's is known for quality and I can attest that this product fits that billing.

Compared to other microwaveable meals that are geared towards people watching their fat or sodium intake, Marie Callender's Pasta Al Dente Rigatoni con Pesce is not one of those.  Each serving bowl contains 340 calories, 12 grams of fat, 5 grams of saturated fat (zero trans fat), 44 grams of total carbohydrates, and a whopping 1260 mg of sodium.  On the positive side, there is a good amount of fiber at 7 grams and 16 grams of protein.  This may not be a meal that you would want to consume on a daily basis if you are watching your fat or sodium intake, but it is a nice treat on occasion. 

Overall, Marie Callender's Pasta Al Dente Rigatoni con Pesce is a tasty and filling meal that is quick and easy.
