Marco Negri muscato di asti is a lovely Italian sparkler. It is delightully light on the palate, but has a rich and interesting character. It features notes of apricot, pair, and a hint of vanilla. It's sweet and light enough to be a perfect wine with appetizers, enjoyed pool side, served with desert, or a festive toast.
It's light and sweet enough to be enjoyed even by people that aren't normally wine drinkers. Even people that think they don't like wine will be shocked at how much they like Marco Negri. It's perfect for people that are into sweet whites like Rieslings, but looking for something with a little sparkle to it for a special occasion. It's also perfect for people that are into it's regional sister the ever popular Asti Spumanti, but are a little bored with it and looking for something a wee bit more exotic and with a bit more character. It's a fun wine for a girls night. It's sophisticated enough to be a romantic date wine, too. I often also use it as a gift wine. It makes a fabulous hostess gift.
The only draw backs to Marco Negri are the sweetness and the cost. It may be a bit too sweet for some palates. If most reislings are too sweet for you, Marco Negri will be,too. It is too sweet for me personally to want to have more than one glass. But that one glass is perfectly enjoyable as a toast or an after dinner treat. Also, though it's mid-priced enough to be enjoyed fairly frequently (17-20 dollars a bottle), it's a bit pricey if you're going to need a whole lot of it.
