The March of Dimes Missions Statement:

Our mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birthweight.

Each year, more than 460,000 babies are born too soon, some so small they can fit in the palm of a hand.  Many of these babies must fight just to survive; others will struggle with lifelong health problems. No one knows what causes half of all premature births. No one is working harder than the March of Dimes to find out.

Every baby has a story.

I wish we had never needed the March Of Dimes, but when our daughter was born almost 9 weeks early, weighing in at 2 lbs, we were thankful for them. They provide emotional, financial and educational support. We are some of the lucky ones, our little girl came home after a month, and was never on oxygen, not all babies are so fortunate. 8 months later, I am still struggling with everything that happened. It is heartbreaking to think that we are the lucky ones. I wouldn't wish a preemie on my worst enemy.

Donating to the March of Dimes helps give EVERY baby a healthy start. You can walk, donate, and volunteer to help out. The March of Dimes Walk America raises money to help fund vital research to end premature birth. Premature birth can happen to any woman, and sometimes for unknow reasons. If you have been touched by the March of Dimes, you will understand the amazing things they do. If you have never needed them, be thankful, and show your support! Search for your local chapter, and see what you can do to help out. Honor a child you know today with a March of Dimes band!

What an amazing group they are. I was born 6 weeks early, 3lbs 11oz and was in the hospital for 3 months. Look how far we've come because of groups like this... your sweet baby was almost 2 lbs less than me and able to come home in a MONTH! That is just awesome. Very nice review, thank you! :)

Great way to bring attention to a great organization! My youngest was 6 weeks early due to low embryonic fluid. She's now almost 4 and is in great health. I'm sure glad your is doing great, too.

Well, look at this! I've been with Viewpoints for a while, and I did not know there was a place to post reviews of charities. I can think of quite a few I could review at this time. And March of Dimes is one of the best ones!
