Manhattan Baby Baby Stella Review

Baby Stella was my daughter's first baby doll. Purchased for Christmas for 15-month old Zoey, she thought it was interesting but really didn't just jump at it. That's fine - we also have a Barbie that her brother gave her as a gift that was left untouched for 6 months before she thought t was neat.

The Doll

Looking at Baby Stella, you'll see that she comes in many different varieties. Skin and hair combinations make this doll completely customizable. You can add accessories for her and purchase them from many places, including online. Some Targets even carry accessories for her!

The Good

1) She comes ready to play - this includes an outfit, two diapers, a headband and a soft body ready to be hugged.

2) She's washable - my daughter even bathed her one day. Amazingly enough, she survived just fine. I throw Stella into the washing machine every few weeks to keep her clean, germ-free and smelling great.

3) She's adorable - she doesn't have the standard DOLL face you'll see with so many dolls. She's actually cute!!

The Bad

My only problem with her is the expense - If you're trying to save money, look somewhere else. This doll is one pricey piece of cloth, especially when you factor in her accessories. This isn't a doll you buy just on a whim. Is she worth it? You decide, but I know that this doll is an extravagance not all parents may be able to afford.

Overall

My daughter loves this doll. It was a great buy for us, but I'm always shocked by the price tag on the doll and the accessories. On one hand, you can expand your daughter's collection and imagination. On the other hand, it costs a LOT to keep the collection up to date. It's featured at Von Maur stores, which should tell you who they think the cliental usually are. If you get this doll, I promise you won't be disappointed though! 

*Note: the price of Baby Stella seems to be dropping closer to the $15 mark. However, her accessories are still priced fairly high.
