Mammoth Review

   Remember those giant monster movies from the 1950's and 60's? I do and I loved them. If you also enjoyed them then you will most likely love Mammoth.

   Mammoth is a fun, tongue in cheek, throwback to an earlier and more innocent time in movie history. Not for one minute does this movie take it's self seriously. It's pure " check the logic center of your brain at the door " entertainment.

   The movie stars Vincent ( Parasite ) Ventresca, Tom ( Picket Fences ) Skerritt and Summer ( Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles ) Glau as residents of a small southern town where a meteor collides with the local museum. An alien life form invades the frozen body of a Whooly Mammoth on display there and uses it to cause all kinds of death and destruction.

   Like I said, check the logic center of your brain at the door because there is none to be found here. However, I found that it didn't bother me in the least as I found this little gem of a movie just so darn fun!

   This was a made for cable ( The Sci- Fi Channel ) movie so don't expect great special effects. They are decent, though, and the movie is in widescreen format which is always a plus in my book.

   So the next your bored on a weekend or whenever, go out and rent Mammoth, pop some popcorn, sit back and enjoy!
