Mamma Mia! (2008 movie) Reviews

I went to see Mamma Mia today with one of my favorite non-chicks - my teenage son. He is a good sport, and I took him out to eat Mexcican and to the hardware store. So, it was me, the kid, and the white haired ladies. Seems Monday is senior day at our local cinemas.My son figured that part out.

I have already seen this movie 3x--twice within 48 hrs.  I loved this movie!  I thought the talent of the cast was spectacular.  Pierce Brosnan admitted he wasn't comfortable singing so I didn't have too many high expectations for him but he is still sweet eye candy.  He did okay once he got into the third or fourth song.  I loved this movie so much that right after we were dismissed I went to Walmart to get the soundtrack.  It was soldout so I went to another Walmart.  I believe the CD was about $14.88.

Mamma Mia is not a movie that I ever felt a burning need to see, but when I found it on the cable company's "on demand" offering and I couldn't find anything else interesting, I decided to check it out.  I've always enjoyed ABBA's music and wanted to see how it was connected to the movie.

You don't have to be a woman to love "Mama Mia," the recently released movie.  If you are a "Boomer;" have a  child (particularly a daughter, but not essential); like Meryl Streep and Christine Baranski; saw "Mean Girls," AND/OR find Pierce Brosnon "eye candy," (regardless of his awful singing voice), this is the movie for you! And no, my husband didn't come out of this movie raving about how wonderful it is, but he did go day 1; saw 10 other guys in the theater, and was tapping out the beat of "Dancing Queen" with his toe as he sat watching.

I grew up listening to Abba from my parents. So when I found out the movie Mamma Mia was coming out with the songs from Abba I was excited. But I am not that into musical movies and my husband isn't either. Well when it came out I took a chance and rented it. My husband found out that it was a musical and wasn't very happy. We got free HBO for a year so I decided to catch all the movies I've wanted to see but haven't wanted to rent.  Mamma Mia was one of those because I knew my husband wouldn't watch it.  I love musicals and I was really in the mood to check this out tonight.  I go to a lot of broadway shows with my mom and sister but we had never made it to this one.  With Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan starring, I just knew I'd like it.
