Most HelpfulMy husband and I decided to go see Mama Mia last minute and while I thought the movie Mama Mia was totally cheesey-- I also thought it was super cute. In fact, it made me chuckle out loud a couple of times. You cant possibly go see Mama Mia and be in a bad mood coming out.
However, if you like Pierce...

Most HelpfulI went to see Mamma Mia today with one of my favorite non-chicks - my teenage son. He is a good sport, and I took him out to eat Mexcican and to the hardware store. So, it was me, the kid, and the white haired ladies. Seems Monday is senior day at our local cinemas. My son figured that part out.
Mamma Mia is kind of the sequel to Grease. OK. Not exactly. But, it's a musical and fun. Instead of a teen musical like Grease when I was young, this is more of a forty-something musical but with a teen player as well.
Donna is planning for her daughter's wedding, and Sophie (the daughter) decides to invite...
read full review »You don't have to be a woman to love "Mama Mia," the recently released movie. If you are a "Boomer;" have a child (particularly a daughter, but not essential); like Meryl Streep and Christine Baranski; saw "Mean Girls," AND/OR find Pierce Brosnon "eye candy," (regardless of his awful singing voice), this is the movie for you! And no, my husband didn't come out of this movie raving about how wonderful it is, but he did go day 1; saw 10 other guys in the theater, and was tapping out the beat of "Dancing Queen" with his toe as he sat watching.
I loved this movie, (56 year old lady), and my daughter...
read full review »I have to admit it: the trailers for Mama Mia had me hooked. It looked like a lot of fun and I wasn't disappointed. It reminded me of the golden era of the movie musicals: no plot to speak of, what little plot there was revolved around romance, lots of singable tunes (and nostalgia for those of us of a certain age), big dance numbers, and you leave the theater with a smile on your face. Meryl Streep was amazing not only in her acting (only an actress of her caliber could give this thin plot some substance) but in her singing: her voice is wonderful and she can really sell a song. What is MTV about...
read full review »I had high hopes for this movie. Perhaps they were too high and that's why I was let down. The music was great, and parts were hilarious. But other parts I thought were inappropriate and not necessary for entertainment. I really grew to dispise Meryl Streep's character in this movie, though I liked Sophie, and the actress who played her, as well as her fiance. I must admit the music was fun, and I found myself singing along (in my head). Overall, I just had mixed reviews. I think if you go into it expecting great things, you will be disapointed. But go into it with no expectations, and you might...
read full review »From the time i saw the trailer for this movie, i was dieing to watch it. The day this movie was out, i was waiting on the line for near to an hour in order to get a decent sit. As the movie started, my friends started complaining how i am making them watch a stupid movie. The movie has a stupid story, has too many old people dancing around, and was too damn cheesy. But somehow at i really enjoyed the movie and i know my friends did too. This movie might not have a purpose behind it and stupid as hell, but it is one of the movies that can make people laugh and happy.
