Another bad product from e.l.f.

Comments about Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder:

I bought this because, like other reviewers have said, they saw great comments about the HD powder. I have oily skin that is acne prone, but I also have dry areas on my face. I thought this powder was the worst I've tried. It left my face white the first time I tried it and it took me forever to get the powder off. I tried it again and applied very little and it still looked unnatural to me. I bought this product so I don't want to throw my money away and I keep going back to try it again. I have not seen any benefits of oil control, long lasting makeup, or anything else. In addition, like another reviewer commented, this container is a disaster and you will have powder everywhere, no matter how you use it. Take it in the bathroom with you (if you choose to buy it and I urge you not to) and open it over the sink, at your own risk. I do not recommend this product to people with oily or combination skin.

Great for oily skin

By

from USA

Comments about Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder:

SO I have combination and oily skin so oil control is very important. This product helps give me a matte finish (I suggest using a high quality brush and applying lightly to your face/too much and you will have a white cast to your face! this especially is true in photos and especially if you use it to set your under eye concealer! and I don't like my face too matte). It also controls oil on my t-zone. I sometimes leave it in my bag just in case (I have the .17oz one but the case is a bit inconvenient to carry out and open). I avoid using it on my cheeks as it can make my face a little too white. The staying power is quite long though, sometimes over 10 hours! And it doesn't leave your face looking too powdery.

Since you only need a little and I don't use it daily, it lasts for a long despite the high price tag. And I do like that it's translucent (don't really like tinted setting powder). A cheaper alternative is the elf hd studio loose powder although that doesn't last as long.

I WOULD MARRY THIS PRODUCT IF I COULD

Comments about Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder:

Anyone following my reviews knows, it all starys with a sample..and stay away from ebay with sellers that price gouge samples that Sephora WILL offer several times a year for next to nothING or for free.

Anyhow, this also comes in a range of sizes online-- try it before you commit. I have been a lifetime oil blotter-- constantly pulling out my compact to remove shine and try to recreate the flawless face I had ay 8am by 10 am. I blame my gene pool for turning my face into an oli slick before I even finish my coffee.

When I started using this product, I also began using a primer--it may be reLated. In any event, it Looks like talc and a little goes a LONG way-- do not overdo it--no need.

So, moisturizer, primer, foundation (usually Laura Mercier tinted mositurizer) and HD-- and I no longer need to touch up my powder AT ALL during the day.

Many stores that carry this line offer the product in varying sizes, so you are able to try it without spending a lot initially. A very small amount is all that you need-- I use a VERY LIGHT DUSTING and the bottle tends to last for quite awhile, and leaves my skin looking fabulous!

I have sang the praises of hd many times before and am glad that Veiwpoints allows me to share my experience with this product to others. It really is worth it-- whether you start with the smaller size and move your way up to the jumbo-will-last-a-lifetime sized bottle, it is something that I feel any person can benefit from : )

My new HG setting powder!

By

from Austin, TX

Comments about Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder:

Ok so truth be told, I have never ever purchased a translucent powder in my entire life. I always used concealer and that was it, I never set it with powder. I guess I never really "knew" to set it (crazy I know). So anyhow, I got this powder as a free 100 point perk from Sephora last month and after it sat in my drawer for a week or so I took it with me on a trip. We were headed to an NBA game and I knew the lights would not be dim so I wanted to hide a gigantic blemish. I of course covered the blemish and set it with this powder afterwards. My husband commented how he could not even see it. I really thought he was just trying to make me feel better but after seeing pictures of us at the game, I realized he was right. It was this powder, or really just the way this powder worked over my concealer. I am so thankful I got this; I don't even know why I chose this item over the others or why I chose not to save my points for another time. I’ve been using my HD powder for about 6 months now. This is really one of those "Holy Grail" items and I will be repurchasing this again and again. It’s amazing how much is actually in the tiny jar. I love this stuff!

Wonderful Finishing Powder

By

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder:

I have acne prone, combination skin and the MUFE HD Microfinish Powder is an awesome way to set my foundation (I switch among Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation, MAC Studio Fix Powder, and Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup). If I don't bother setting my makeup, it ends up smearing on my phone when I make a call or loses its coverage by the end of the night. Because I have combination skin, I am more oily along my t-zone and I can instantly tell how much more matte my skin looks after I apply this! You can use any fluffy face powder brush with this, but I love using Sephora's Air Brush #55 Brush because I can use it for foundation, powder, and to blend bronzer/blush. Eco Tools makes a cheap brush alternative. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because there are plenty of other finishing powders out there (like the ones made by ELF and Bare Essentials) and this is one of the more expensive options. Packaging is great though, and works very well!

Great universal finishing powder

By

from Maumee, OH

Comments about Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder:

I am fairly impressed with this stuff. I have dry skin, and I always have a problem finding a setting powder that doesn't make me look extremely cakey. It is so fine that you can't even see it on your skin, but it still has the effect of blurring flaws. This product is a little pricey and I've heard that you can buy similar products for less. My major complaint with this product is the packaging and application. The packaging always seems to make a mess. No matter how hard i try I end up with clouds of this powder every where! Also, because the product is so finely milled it is really hard to pick up with a brush, even a dense kabuki (and thus causes an even bigger mess). I've heard the suggestion that using a powder puff to apply the product and then using a kabuki to buff it in works better. I like this product enough (even with not so stellar application, to invest in a powder puff in hopes of seeing even better results.

Really takes care of shine!

By

from Hondo, TX

Comments about Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder:

Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder is perfect for people with oily skin, like myself!  I typically apply my makeup in the morning and about a half hour later, my face looks like an oil slick!  So gross!  I recently went on a hunt to find the best products to combat this problem and this product has become an intregal part of my arsenal!  It is a white powder, so if you're too heavy handed, I can imagine it would give you a whitish cast on your face.  However, if you just use a light dusting, it will keep you shine free all day!  I use Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + foundation, then a light dusting of Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder over that.  Then I put on my blush, and top it with Make Up For Ever translucent loose powder. I find that that takes away a bit of any whitish hue my face may have, as it is not white.  I have never been able to stay shine free for as long as I do when using this product!  It also makes your skin feel soft!

Absolutely perfect! Works amazingly! =]

Comments about Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder:

Let me just start by saying I LOVE this product!

I use it on top of my liquid foundation everyday and it makes it look flawless! It keeps it on longer, mattifies, makes my foundation look natural and not cakey, and so much more!

It's crazy how this super fine powder can do so much!

Its very light and feels like its not there. I truly do recommend this product to daily foundation users. It's worth the price and has lasted a long time for me.

Give it a shot. I'm 99.9% sure you wont be disappointed.

Perfect over any foundation!!

By

from Houston, TX

Comments about Makeup For Ever HD Microfinish Powder:

The makeupforever HD Powder is just all over AMAZING! I used to use the translucent powder from bare minerals over my foundations to set them for the day, but i'd normally have to reaplyit through out the day. The HD Powder, i just put it on and i'm done for the day. The quality of this stuff is beautiful. A little bit really does take you a long way, I spreads and covers easily. I've herd alot of people say that this product has a tendency to wash them out, and it will give you the washed out look if you apply to much. It is a white powder, so when I say minimal, I do mean minimal. I perfer to pick the powder up on a black haird brush, so I can see  EXACLTY how much product I am picking up, then I put four spots (Forhead, Chin, and both cheeks) and blend ount into the face. THis powder works really good with all foundations, but if you want maximum results I reccomend you use it with there entire HD line, Thats what I do and my skin has never looked smoother, and so pore free!! It also has really good coverage, so if you do need a conceler, you only need little of it. Did i mention one color fits all???
