Magnavox - DVD/VCR Combo —
I purchased this DVD/VCR combo less than a year ago. Last week, each time I put a tape in the VCR part, whether to watch or record, the tape would run for approximately 5-10 seconds, then the VCR would shut down. When I turn it back on, the tape ejects. I called Magnavox with the problem and was told that the labor warranty expired after 90 days. If I could find my receipt, I would need to photocopy it and send the VCR, along with a $45 money order, to their warehouse in Vermont, and they would take a look at it. If I could not find the receipt, it would be better to throw it away and get a new one. I paid over $200 for this item and it lasted less than a year. When I was speaking with their representative, she told me that this model had several problems and most consumers found it easier to replace it than to attempt to repair it. I will have to replace this item, but I definitely will not be replacing it with another Magnavox product. For the price, I would expect such an item to last several years.
