Good Deal but can be a headache

an online survey taker, appreciative of good service, pc-user, value conscious, into trying new things

cheap, unlimited calling

poor customer support, doesn't work in internet outage, doesn't work when computer is turned off, did not have number in my area, misleading advertising

My husband and I saw a review of this on our local news and thought "Wow, we could get rid of our existing land line all together and save a ton of money!" So, we ordered it...They advertise that you can try if for 30 days and only then, if you love it, will they bill you...well, 2 days after ordering it the charge hit my bank account and we hadn't even received the product yet. I went to the website to look for a customer service phone number - there isn't one. I then used their online customer service option and waited to speak with a rep. Finally a rep responded in broken english saying not to worry; I will love it and if I don't then they will refund my money...NOT what they advertised...I asked for a phone number to contact someone as I was still not satisfied...they said they were sorry but that service was not available. SO, I went to the Better Business Bureau site and THEY don't even have a contact number for this company. I reported them and through some online digging found an e-mail address for one of the main guys who developed the product. I emailed him and he did respond. He was borderline rude and said that it would be taken care of and the rep shouldn't have given the responses she did...three days later they credited my account...a few days after that the product actually arrived. We installed it and it DOES work. They don't have any local area codes for NC - closest thing was VA at this time. Therefore, I can't lose my landline as hoped for. I can call out and seem to have ok voice quality but cannot receive incoming calls. I guess for $20.00 a year to be able to call and talk to my Mom any time I want it is worth it. However, I wish you much luck in getting any sort of service from them if you encounter any problems.

I have heard Clark Howard talk about the MagicJack and I had to Look it up on Viewpoints to see what the real dirt was...Boy am I getting the info and Thankful for that! Thanks for your review.
