MagicJack VOIP Service —

Love the Magic Jack. I havent had any Problems using it.

It works Great, Sounds Great can call out and recive call just fine (other users have reported problems, I think they need to check there Firewall settings).

magicJack is a superior telecommunications subistute, it can be used to call any cell and land line # execpt 900 # i belive.

As others have said, I ran in to the same problems, They did not have a local Prefix for my area. I was however able to get  my area code but it is long distance for other to call me with out a local prefix since my ares code covers over 40% of the state.

They probley should not sell it if numbers are not available, you should be able to request a Number at the time of purchase and be able to cancle the order if a local number is not availble.

You can change you # once with out charge so when a Local number dose open up you can change it for free but they do not offer a service to let a coustomer know when a number is available.

You should know this before getting rid of you land line phoneDiscription from their site:

magicJack is an easy-to-use, portable device that allows you to use a standard telephone, corded or cordless, or even a headset/mic combination. No special equipment is required.

magicJack customers pay one low upfront cost for the device and their first year of service is included at no additional charge. For one low annual price, magicJack customers receive local and long distance calling to the United States and Canada. magicJack customers will never see a monthly phone bill.

magicJack has an actual dedicated telephone network along with interexchange agreements with our peer telecommunications providers. Other VoIP providers lease their entire network from third-party carriers and this may result in higher costs and less reliable networks and call quality.

LIMITATIONS ON ACCESS TO E911 SERVICES:

1) You should consider maintaining an alternate means of contacting E911 services. The magicJack E911 service differs from traditional E911 service. you should consider having an alternate means of contacting E911 services

2) magicJack emergency services may not operate during a power outage.

3) magicJack E911 services will not operate if your broadband connection is disrupted.

4) magicJack E911 services will not operate unless you register your correct service address with magicJack. IF YOU MOVE BE SURE TO CHANGe YOU ADDRESS WITH MAGIC JACK  www.mymagicjack.com

5) magicJack E911 services will not operate correctly if you disable, damage or move the magicJack" device to another location. I.e. if you take it to anouther house, town, state ect.

6) magicJack E911 service will not operate outside of the United States and Canada.

7) magicJack is only able to provide E911 service in cities and towns where the local Public Safety Answering Point, or PSAP, is technically capable of receiving your address information with your E911 call. If the PSAP that serves your area is not equipped to receive your magicJack registered address, you will need to provide the 911 operator with your address information orally.
