I received my Magic Jack as a birthday gift.  You can not bet $19.99 for one year service and no long or local distance charges, no peak time charges, and can call anywhere in the US without charge.  My cell phone service with 3 phones has run me from $250 to $500 per month.

Ok, like many people I have my phone, cable and internet bundled.  In this day and age everything is about technology.  I have used internet phones before like Vonage, and found it to be alright however I always ended up back with Comcast where it was all bundled.  I heard about Magic Jack orginally...

Magic Jack is not reliable. When and if I could get a dial tone, the sound was loaded with static. I even changed phones to see if it would help and it did not improve.  Sometimes I could make a call and the persons voice on the other end was pulsated like they were in a blender. I am all about saving money, but the Magic Jack is a waste.

I knew the $19.95 for a year thing was way too good to be true. But my husband wanted to try it. What a huge mistake. At least it didn't end up being too costly a mistake.

I have a fast cable internet connection which should be good enough for this gadget. With this thing, my voice skipped and dragged, and there were delays. The people I called told me of long, awkward silences, where they would talk and I wouldn't respond and hung up most of the time because they thought I was disconnected. If I said to someone: "I stopped by your house today." It sounded like this to ME (I could hear myself...

The Magic Jack is a new invention that brings your computer and telephone together for a better phone bill and many options that you can use for free. Like long distance, 3 way calling and voice mail.

However in the 2 weeks that I have been using it I haven't be completly satisfied. My calls have been full of static, the connection keeps messing up and you have to go in and fix it online. Then you have to have your computer on at all times so that the program can work properly.

If you have kids you have to make sure they never close the Magic Jack program or you won't recieve you phone calls....

Magic Jack is a great little "phone" tool. You certainly can't beat the price. I really haven't had much trouble with it - the better your internet service, the better phone service you will get. I had it hooked up to a laptop with a wireless connection, and although it worked with the laptop and wireless, the internet connection was not all that great, so my service with Magic Jack wasn't always that great. Still wasn't too bad considering the price! When I hooked it up to my regular internet service and desktop computer, had MUCH less problems and much better service. I had to contact customer...

MagicJackChat.com has everything you need to help you with your Magic Jack Phone.   If you still haven't purchased Magic Jack, MagicJackChat.com will walk you through the installation process even though it is the easiest installation you will ever do on a PC.    You only pay for the Magic Jack device which is a box no bigger than a baseball card that has a short USB cable sticking out one end that goes to your computer and a female jack that accepts any normal phone's plastic connector (RJ23).  MagicJackChat.com also has hacks and development areas if you are looking to dive deeper in to... review »

I was very excited when I saw the advertisement on televison.  I have used Vonage for years and had many expectations for this product.  I purchased this product for my very value conscious grandmother.  She is on a limited income and I try to help her save every penny she comes across.  When we received it, I thought that it would be as simple and as easy to use as vonage, however, it wasn't.  First of all they neglected to mention that if you happen to live in New Hampshire you can not get a local telephone number, then even if you don't mind that, and you have either a massachussetts or...

We have had Magic Jack for almost a year. All in all it has turned out to be a good deal. The price is right. I think we paid $50.00 for five years and you can't go wrong. There are times when there is a lot of static on the phone. The service keeps upgrading and each time they do, the service seems to be better.

If you are having voice quality issues all you need to do is buy a USB port with an adapter. It takes lots of energy from the computer to make a call so when you have a powered usb you don't have to worry about the computers usage. You can buy one for under 7 bucks at EFORCITY.com
