I knew the $19.95 for a year thing was way too good to be true. But my husband wanted to try it. What a huge mistake. At least it didn't end up being too costly a mistake.

I have a fast cable internet connection which should be good enough for this gadget. With this thing, my voice skipped and dragged, and there were delays. The people I called told me of long, awkward silences, where they would talk and I wouldn't respond and hung up most of the time because they thought I was disconnected. If I said to someone: "I stopped by your house today." It sounded like this to ME (I could hear myself speak): " I stop-stop-stop by by by by houuuuuuuuuuse!" That was the awkward silences to the other people. I couldn't speak until I stopped hearing myself speak. It was really static-y on those calls when you could have a conversation.

Don't even try to use your computer while someone is on the phone. It's impossible.

Also, if you switch phones, they do not let you take your number with you.

I didn't try to return it. It was only $20, getting my money back would be more trouble than it was worth. They conveniently don't include instructions on how to send it back for a refund either.

They always boast of how many people sign up for MagicJack every day. I wonder how many people keep using it.

If you are having voice quality issues all you need to do is buy a USB port with an adapter. It takes lots of energy from the computer to make a call so when you have a powered usb you don't have to worry about the computers usage. You can buy one for under 7 bucks at EFORCITY.com
