Pros

healthy bread, so easy you might feel guilty, does all the work for you, delayed start, no fail bread every time, homemade bread, much cheaper than bakery, no preservatives

My Magic Chef one and a half pound breadmaker works just as great today as it did when it was new. It has NEVER failed me.

I still have the owner's manual / recipe book and the directions are simple and easy to follow.  BUT.  I also I use other bread maker recipes and regular bread recipes as well.  You can add fresh oats, sesame, sunflower or poppy seeds to almost any recipe and it tastes wonderful and adds fiber to your diet. I always at least add one of those and use whole wheat flour for part of the bread flour. You get to eat really healthy bread with NO preservatives, nothing in it that you can't pronounce.

I love the fact that I can put my ingredients in, select the cycle and delay the start (up to 13 hours) and wake up to the smell of fresh-baked bread. Yum, warm bread with breakfast and enough for sandwiches too. The loaves make very big sandwiches for my hard working hubby and his co-workers are all jealous of his lunches.

The loaves are square and I use a miter box for bread to cut the slices straight and even. If you like your loaves to have the traditional 'bread' shape with the rounded top or even round loaves then you just use the dough cycle and the Magic Chef does all the kneading, and first two raises.   Then you can shape and bake the bread in a loaf pan or on a baking stone in the oven if If you prefer. Living in Florida, I prefer not to heat up my kitchen.

This bread maker saves us money too.  At $3 to $4 a loaf for bakery store bread or about the same price for the "premium" brands of grocery store bread; verses about 3 loaves of bread per 5 pounds of flour at about $2. You can see how much money I save. 3 loaves only use about a dollar's worth of yeast IF you buy yeast in pre-measured 3 to a strip packages, but much, much less per loaf if you buy yeast in a jar and measure it yourself.  I add only 2 tablespoons of olive oil for italian, or 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine per loaf and probably 5 to15 cents of oats, seeds or nuts for the best fresh 'homemade' bread.

It's so easy you might feel guilty.
