For probably the past 10 years, we have celebrated our special occassions, anniversaries, graduations, and the like at Maggianos.  We have taken a myriad of friends and out of town relatives to enjoy the family style italian cuisine, so when my son brought home his new girlfriend from Michigan for the first time, we combined Father's Day with her visit and made reservations.  About the only thing that went as planned was that our table was ready at the appropriate time.  Obviously our server was new to his job, but that shouldn't have presented any problem as we knew what choices we wished, and there was no debate or confusion at the table.  Our appetizers took forever and the portions were not what we were accustomed to.  Then the salads arrived, but we still had not gotten our beverages, not even ice water.  An obliging bus boy got us a carafe of water and glasses, and that was literally the last that we saw of our server.  The mussels in white sauce literally tasted like overdone pasta cooked in seawater (polluted seawater at that) and I question whether the mussels were alive and fresh at the time of preparation.  They took the dish back and returned it, but it wasn't much improved.  My chicken saltem buka was burnt and the proscuitto and cheese elements that top the dish were sadly stinted and therefore didn't lend much flavor to the overall presentation.  The steamed vegetables were not completely steamed.  Now I like crunchy, but this was raw with some raw garlic thrown on top for good measure.  Plates were being cleared away before people were finished eating, and the delay between courses was excessive, to the point that the younger members of our party were losing patience and forgetting how to behave in the interim.  On several occassions, the floor manager came breezing by our table to inquire how everything was, but didn't linger long enough for anyone to even deliver a response.  We felt rushed in the extreme, and when we arrived home discovered that we didn't even get all the items that they supposedlly gathered to package up for us to take home.  This was by far the most expensive and worst dining experience of my life.  I don't mind the expense for quality, and in the past, we have received quality at this establishment, but I feel embarassed and ripped off.  My attempts to register a complaint with the company through their web site was futile, because the web site insists that you put the check number from your order on your comments or the complaint form is considered incomplete.  I bought and paid for our dinner with a combination of gift cards that I had purchased and set aside for a special occassion.  I didn't pay by credit card, or personal check because I had sufficient gift cards saved to cover the expense of the meal.  Therefore, I couldn't register my unhappiness with them.  I spent over $160 and have to admit that I only left a tip because I presume that the bus boys receive some of the wait staff's tips...If it hadn't  been for the bus boy, we wouldn't have even had the poor service we received.  Chances are we wouldn't have eaten or drank at all.  I won't be going back, and I am so disappointed.  A great thing has been ruined.
