Use the Magellan and you will never be lost

4

What can I say if you were to blindfold me turn me around a couple of times and then unblindfold me I would be lost. My friends make fun of me because I live in Boca and sometimes I still have to ask them how to get somewhere. We bought the Magellan last year before our vacation. We travel to Pennsylvania every year and on the way from there to home we stop along the way. I am an okay map reader and usually my husband does all of the driving and I am the navigator. What a pleasant surprise when we plugged in our destination to Maggie (that is our nickname for the Magellan) and she directed us to our destination. Not only did she reroute us when there were detours but she got us there in the quickest time. I use the Magellan not only when I am travelling but also when I am driving locally especially when I have to drop my kids off at different friends houses. I plug in the address and it takes me to their door. Buying the Magellan was the best investment we could make now I can throw away all those maps we have.

Magellan MAESTRO IS WORTH ITS PRICE

4

mAGELLAN MAESTRO works great. It tells the name of the street an additional plus. And warns before 2miles and then every half.that makes managing turns and changing lanes very easy. Besides audio warning are very easy even if you are not able to look at it. The only problem I face is that often it selects some routes that are difficult..overlooking the easy ones. And at times few details are bit obsolete.otherwise it works great.Has so many added advantages and options.I really recommend every one who never wants to get lost:-)

My story behind getting this unit, was my husband had to make an emergency trip to Tennessee and we live in Indiana.. He knew how to get o Tennessee but wasn't sure about the location he needed to be at... So he purchased this thinking he was going to use it once, than sell it on Ebay or something, then he got attached and i did too. Great system and great with detours and faster routes that avoids freeways if wanted...

are you lost? not with this device!

Funny how lost one can feel without access to a geographical map. After having used the Magellan 4000 GPS Navigation System, I doubt Ill ever be able to go back to paper maps. How convenient it is to input an address or city and receive step by step instructions on how to get from point A to point B. The software is extremely easy to use with bright colors and arrows help you identify the direction you are traveling. I recommend this particular device and have not found any problems with it thus far.

Magellan works great

This Magellan GPS navigation system is simply the best in helping me find my way around anywhere. The voice is not annoying. Before I had this, vacations were a hassle with maps and stopping to ask for directions. Now that I have this device, I don't have to worry what type of person I'm asking for directions anymore. Just for the safety feature alone, it is worth every penny. It has always taken me in the right directions without any problems. It's easy to read and to use and very easy to input the addresses. I really consider this to be a fun toy for me and my family. It has helped us out numerous times. It definitely gets you where you need to go. I love the feature where it tells you if a road is closed or how to go alternate ways.

Magellan GPS was a great gift for my Hubby, and me too!

5

I purchased the Magellan Maestero GPS as a Christmas gift for my Husband about 3 years ago. He takes it with him when he leaves our general area, over 50 miles. It was a surprise to me but, he even puts it in the bag on the his Harley when goes driving around. He says he going for a "little" motorcycle ride and comes back at dusk! It was especially helpful to me when I had to take the kids and go 7 hours away for my cousin's funeral because my Hubby had to work. My Aunt and cousins live in a VERY rural area. I had not been there since I was a teenager, so I didn't know my way around especially in the dark. With the help of the GPS I easily found my way around to the funeral home, my aunt's house, and back to the hotel. I didn't need to worry about getting lost with the kids. The Magellan is very easy to use, in fact my young teen son can use it with no problems. I think it is a great product and is a good value.

Magellan GPS is a nice alternative to Garmin...

I received a sample of this Magellan GPS (don't ask me how) and I have to say, this is a solid product. Before I get further into my review, I just want to say, I am a Garmin kind of guy, and I would recommend Garmin over Magellan any day.  However, to be fair, this is one solid GPS that gets the job done also. It just isn't as clean cut as Garmin. Onto Magellan's strengths: The interface is much more vibrant and colorful than Garmin's interface. This may be a selling or even winning point for some people. It is easy to use; however, there is a learning curve, and it does take some time to learn. Reading the manual would help. The navigation system itself is easy to read, and you can follow it with no problem on first try. However, again, Garmin's system is more pleasing to the eyes when you are driving at the same time. On a side note, I just want to emphasize that you should use the navigation basing on hearing than visuals. But at the few times that you glance at your GPS to get an idea of where you are, Garmin does win out. The battery life of this GPS seems to be better than Garmin. I don't know how the internal parts and mechanics differ, but I can use this without charging for longer than my Garmin. This is not a big problem as most people will charge it while using it anyway.

Lasted good for a year

Ours worked great for about a year then it decided to do its own thing we would have to constantly reset it with a pen on the reset tab just to get somewhere.  There were no map updaates since 2008 unless you payed money but we bought it in 2009 so I think we should have gotten the upgrade free....We ended up on roads that were closed or no longer let you go the way it told you to turn .....sooo annoying ...as for it not working i'm glad we got the 2 yr warenty we went with a different brand and are happy so far

The Magellan 4000 is an acceptional GPS.  One of the selling points is the AAA capabilities it has. (You must subscribe to AAA)  That comes in handy for locating extra POI's not regularly listed.  My family and I like to just get in the car and go for a drive.  One touch toHOME and you can never get lost.  What a piece of mind this has given me.  The turn by turn features are excellent and give you plenty of time to turn.  Another excellent feature is the screen size, which is the 4".  It also changes over to nightvision automatically.  It gives you 4 different choices of direction type such as: fasted, shortest, most use of freeways and least use of freeways.  It also allows you to detour when necessary.  It has a favorite section for your most used addressed.  The volume is fully adjustable.  this GPS is a touch screen, but I find it much easier to use a stylus from a DS.  It is very easy to use and the online and phone support is also very good.  It comes with a book and also a cd for easy instructions.  It also came with the dash/windshield mount, ac adapter and car adapter.   The only problem that I have found with this particular item is that you cannot find replacement parts in any store.  You need to get them online or order them on the phone.  The parts such as an extra cylinder  or extra dashmount to fit.

I travel  a lot  with having one son inthe service, whoiis transferred every 2 years all over the states.  Also I have a son that lives inMainewo races standardbred horses.  We travel  all over to various  tacks to see them race.  Then there is  our  vacation tavels.   Last year  we took 6mini(weekend) trips  and one vacation  for  10 days.  We drove all up and done  the coast, went to Memphis also.   I really enjoyed having my Magellan  guiding  me  instead of having to have a map or printed directions.  Also when we are at a strange location and want to shop or go eat or whatever--all we do is  enter info on what we want to do and the Magellan gives us directions.   I have not  been lost once since we got the Magellan.  Beforeit  I was constantlygetting lost.  This GPS  is so  easy to use, even dummym,e has no problem.   I think it is super and affordable.  Also the tech support from  the company is supberb.
