The Magellan Maestro 4250 is a very good GPS system. The screen is large and very clear. It is easy to navigate through the menu options and to enter addresses. This GPS gives you multiple options on how you would like to route to your destination i.e. fastest time, shortest distance, least use of freeways, etc. It has a day & night screen that make it easier to see and drive with during that time of day. The system has voice activated controls which was one of the main reasons i chose this particular model. While this is a great feature it does need some refinement. I have to practically scream at the system in order for it to understand what I am saying. Also it gives limited options on what you can speak to it such as you can only tell it to route you home not to a specific location which was a big disappointment to me. I bought this as a refurbished model and it was a great price for a high quality system. The GPS boots up fast and while it calculates routes quickly there is sometimes a lag that I assume to happen here and there with any sort of electronic device. Also another low point for me was that in order to update the software you must be able to attach it to a PC and I only have a Mac. Overall it serves the purpose I need it to and more.
