This thing is friggin' amazing!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

My husband is an outside salesman, so he drives A LOT.  I bought this for him for Christmas last year, and I have to say, it is AMAZING!  Now I want one for myself.

I had never heard of this brand before, but I got a great deal on it at Best Buy so I bought it.  It is so simple to use & it really allevaiates the stress I feel when I travel to an unfamiliar area.  I feel confident using the Magellan GPS, and even if I still manage to make a driving error while using it, it calmly redirects me to an alternate route.  I LOVE THIS THING!

We're traveling to Florida this summer and we've already went in to the system to find out how long the trip will take.  How amazing is this thing?  It tells you how many miles your trip is, it tells you how long it will take, etc.etc.etc.

Hard to understand what it is saying

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

This is my 3rd Magellan that i have bought. I like the ease of use on entering new address and other features. I recently updated the voice recognition and traffic up date that worked great for a day then she did not want to talk to me any more. I had to use a pin to reset it and keep turning on and off and finally sent it in for repairs. Magellan is the only company that i have dealt with that makes ya pay for the postage to send it back to them. They gave me a number to write on the box and then they tell ya to use FedEx so, ah why do they say use FedEx when i have to pay for it to be shipped? When i called the 800 number for repairs i spent 20min. trying to understand the lady on the Address  to send it to. She did not speak very good English, God Bless her for trying.....so over all i like Magellan but when i buy my next one i think i will buy a Garmin, Tom Tom or a SONY

BEST INVENTION SINCE SLICED BREAD!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

My husband bought me my magellan-Maestro 4040 GPS for my birthday.  I get lost every time I leave my town.  No matter how many times I try to self direct (so-to-speak) I always wind up ending where I started!  This device is wonderful!  It tells me where to turn, what street I should be on, how long it will take.  I feel safe, comfortable knowing I am where I should be.  All I have to do is type in the address and off I go!  It even lets me know what roadside services are available if I ask it. Example:   I was playing with it and didn't know the address of a local gas station. Typed my query in and it literally let me know the closest one.  Love this, and if your a not -so -good- at -direction's kind of person, you shouldn't leave home without it.   mthunter40

I love my Magellan

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I just got Magellan as a present.  I'm not into reading manuals.  Basic set up is:  plug it in, mount it in the car and you're ready to go.  All of the equipment you need is in the box.  The  suction cup makes it easy to find a place on the window.  The bracket is adjustable so you can put it in a convient angle to be read.  It has plugs for house current, a USB cable so you can hook it to your computer for quick updates, and a cigarette plug for your car.  There's even a CD if you really need help in how to use it.  Programming is touch screen.I do deliveries for a living so getting around town is a must.  This GPS allows me to enter se...

Do not buy from Magellan Navigation, Inc.

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Do Not buy from Magellan Navigation, Inc.  (actually, Thales Navigation Inc)We purchased the voice feature for the GPS online and it didn't work so we called fro a refund.  Their policy is NO REFUNDSWe asked for their address and or phone number of their company and they REFUSED to provide it. Before thinking of buying their product I would highly recommend you try to find the name and phone number of their Main Office - they are in hiding... you won't get it.  If you do, please email me at darrelln99@aol.  Need the name of their CEO so we can take him to small claims court and get our money back.

Great GPS with a large screen!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I love traveling, but I always seem to get lost. There will be nore more of that with the Magellen Maestro 4040. This GPS rocks. Unlike many others on the market it has a large screen so you can actually see it when you are driving. It came in a box with an instruction manual, power supply, computer cord, GPS, mounting stand, and a case. The GPS was very easy to mount on the windshield of my car. It uses a very strong suction cup and the mounting stand is very adjustable so you can make sure you can see it from whichever angle you like. It case is also very nice for when it is not in use. The GPs also says the name of the street, etc that you need to turn on which is nice. There is a day mode and a night mode, so the screen is easy to see at all times of day. The one negative is that the battery does not last super long, but the cord is able to reach to wherever you mounted it in the car. I highly recommend the Magellen Maestro 4040.

I LOVE Technology

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

I am reviewing the Magellan4040 and I enjoy iy buy the one thing it does not have is detour routes AND a route to Canada. Since I live in NY I am literally 20 minutes away from Canada and if I don't get directions from mapquest(which I hate)...I am pretty much out of luck.  I use this device weekly because my spouse and I can sometimes be direction illiterate and it has saved us SO MANY TIMES.  I believe the price was reasonable seeing we received it as a Christmas gift as all of the navigation devices were coming out..it was in the $200 range. Now you can choose one that is right for you.  My best advice is to go to a Best Buy or a technological store...not a Walmart or Target...simply because they give you the attention and knowledge you need.  Also the "technological" stores have many varieties that fit your lifestyle..because all GPS' are VERY VERY different...but in the end all do the same thing...GIVE DIRECTIONS

Why pay 200 or even 300 more for other GPS?

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I paid about $100 for a refurbished of this unit 6 months ago.  I owned several GPS system in the past including a $900 Garmin 8xx series as well as a Mio C310x.  This Magellan simply blew away all of them.  The Mio is the worst of them all.  It got me lost so many times it's not even funny.  The Garmin fair much better if not for the price.  This unit is easy to set up and easy to use.  It has features such as TTS and 4.3" screen that other more expensive units have for a very a low price.  I like the user interface of this unit most.  Cold start is on par with other unit and hot start is very very fast.  The TTS feature actually is very goo...

Provides easy navigation with clear directions, easy to use.

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I bought this item for several reasons - moving to a new city, and the future possibility of making several roadtrips to and through L.A.

I first tried this on a 1 1/2 hour trip I knew well. It delivered me to my destination perfectly. I next tried it on a trip where I was not familiar with the roads and freeways. Again, it delivered me to my destination without a problem.

It announces upcoming road changes 2 miles in advance, then 1 mile (approx.), and then again at 1/2 mile, giving you plenty of time to make lane changes, even on busy freeways. The directions voice is clear and concise, and has volume control for noisy situations. If you make a change to the route (say, to...

The Magellan Maestro 4040 is the Easiest GPS on the market.

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

the Magellan Maestro 4040 is a great and easy to use product.  This GPS system is loaded with features and an incredibly user friendly interface. Comes with everything you need right out of the box.  I bought this product for a cross-country road trip.  We traveled from DC to San Francisco and relied heavily on this unit.  It was great for exploring new cities and looking up restaurants and pet-friendly hotels. Only cons are if you have fat fingers like me.

Love this GPS !!!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I love this GPS - bought it 2 weeks before going to Canada for the first time - not only did it guide me everywhere I wanted to go in British COlumbia, it was able to hook into the CAA website and tell me which restaurants gave AAA discounts as well as 1800 numbers for those places -all on the road - also was able to convert system to Metric so we didnt run afoul of Canadian traffic cops !! Will never go on any road trip without it !!!

The Magellan is a life-saver.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I recieved the Magellan as a graduation gift and it has helped me countless times since then. It is very acurate and if you make a mistake it figures out a different way you can go to still get to where you are trying to go. The only problem I have with this device is that some addresses are hard to find.

Really awesome

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Really good GPS. Worth every penny that I spend on it. It recalculates really fast and the Bluetooth quality is amazing. The 4.3 bright screen makes it easy to read the street names.     All in all, this GPS with Bluetooth is an awesome device for regular day to day life. Naviagtion is quick and entering address is also kool.

Very handy to have on roadtrips

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I love this thing!  It definitely has helped when I didn't know where I was going.  There was no computer time to type in addresses or anything on mapquest or yahoo maps.  I just plugged in where I was going, and it was able to find it, the address, and phone number!  The voice is also nice so I don't have to take my eyes off the road in particularly tricky road conditions.
