Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Review Summary

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is "just as fun as the first!" The same celebrity voices are back, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, and Sach Baron Cohen, as the zoo animals leave Madagascar intending to go back to New York City, but crash their plane in Africa, reuniting them with animals of their own species, forcing them to wonder if they should stay there or return home. In "one of those rare sequels which is just as good as the first," the characters seem to "come alive and keep you in suspense for the next event coming." A movie that is suitable for both adults and kids, Escape 2 Africa kept the attention of preschoolers as they "sat through the entire movie." Along with the humor that was tame enough for children, kids love to sing along to the theme song that began back in the first Madagascar, I Like to Move It.

After seeing and loving Madagascar back in 2005, I was very excited when I heard they were coming out with a sequel!  I did not want to wait to see it, so I made it a point to schedule a date with my friends in advance so we could see it in the theater.  It was definitely worth it, and the only bad...

In  Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa the animation is great and the voices are perfect for the characters. There are some positive messages in the movie such as sticking together through tough times, friendship being valuable, and even looking for a mate based on something other than looks.

However, there...

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is one of those rare sequels which is just as good as the first, and one that is enjoyable to both young and old, if the audience reaction from the theater this weekend is any type of a gauge.

The first Madagascar film was a success, relying on the star power of the character voices, some great writing, and a song that gets stuck in your head for days, I Like to Move It. With Escape 2 Africa, we get more of the same, with the same stars, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, and Sacha Baron Cohen. We even add Alec Baldwin to the mix this time...

I saw this movie in theaters opening weekend with 5 friends of mine. we're all 21+ and still loved it. haha.  We all liked the first Madagascar movie, and were anxious to see this one. It was worth it. I love the penguins, so mischievous and funny. I also like the lemur king, he cracks me up. My friends were from New Jersey and moved to Colorado, so they got a kick out of a couple comments made in the movie about New Jersey. Cute movie for adults and children! They have some references in the movie that adults will catch but children still wouldnt quite understand. Funny stuff for sure! I definitely... review »

Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa - The Movie

This movie was a sequel that equalled the original. My seven year old daughter and I watched it on Thanksgiving.  The previews were great and got us excited.  All the baby animals in the New York Zoo had me squealing in my seat. i loved seeing Aleki, his parents, his uncle, the witch docotr, little Mort the hero, and I rooted for the bad penguins when the old lady from New York was even BADDER! Anybody messing with Alex like she did had it coming.  The 8 track songs were a great little side note; the seafood sacrifice to the God was funny and you...

Okay, I admit I rarely enjoy sequels.  Most often a good story is better left alone in my opinion.  But this one was OK!  It does a wonderful job of bringing to conclusion the saga of Alex, Marty, Melmin and Gloria.  It begins with a glimpse of just how Alex the Lion was transported from the plains of Africa to the center of New York as a cub, (but I'll not give it away!)  As the foursome leaves Madagascar, with the penguins manning the cockpit of a patched together airplane, their intended destination is home in New York.  But fate has other ideas, and they crash land in a wildlife refuge... review »

I really enjoyed the original Madagascar and the previews made this one look just as good.

I'm sorry to report that it is not. The 4 main characters are together for only the first 20 or so minutes, then they all separate and start on their own story line. Alex has issues with his pride which he is reunited with, Marty discovers that he's not as unique as he had believed and Melman and Gloria are off having issues with their love lives. The camera work in the beginning of the movie is a lot like being pushed around in a crowd, so if you get motion sick easily at all, beware.

The few times that I...

I recently saw Madagascar 2 with my 6 and 4 yearold children. We saw the first one and loved the humor and story line so decided to go see the 2nd one. It was great if not better than the first. There was no unsutable language for the kids yet was humours as well for the adulfs. my husband and I were laughing along with the kids! The characters seem to come alive and keep you in suspense for the next event coming! This is one fantastic movie! I also took along my friend, her boyfriend and son. They loved it as well and couldnt contain their laughter. I could hear others in the theatre laughing... review »

Madagascar 2 wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible either. There were some very funny parts, but there were also parts that dragged during which my daughter got restless. It looks even worse when you compare it to some of the other animated films to come out this year such as Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E which were both excellent. It's worth renting on video if your family enjoyed the first one, but it may not warrant a purchase. If you do purchase it, make sure that you get the version that comes with the extra penguins feature as that looks like it may be better than the movie and will be an upcoming...

while it was not as good as the first Madagascar 2 is still worth it ican not get over wanting to move it move it I am begining to like more and more animated movies that have this subtile level of adult humor and still provide entertainment for the kids

some of the most fun is realizing how much fun the actors are having getting in to their characters  and being so true to what i would dream them to be

i just can not get the music out of my mind so i guess that it must be good and now i find myself hoping for a third

Madagascar 2-Escape 2 Africa was excellent.  It showed alot of funny parts that all kids and adults could relate to.  It was one I would recommend to a people to see.  Our families favorite parts were the dancing hippo that loved Gloria and Alex getting a whipping from the old grandmother.  They also loved the part when the plane started to crash and the peguins talking.

We own the first Madegascar and my kids loved it. So it was only natural to go and see the 2nd. I was completely satisfied with it!! My little boy loved it and sang along when "I like to move it, move it" came on. I would definately go and see it again in the theaters.(well when it comes out to the dollar theaters, they have gotten to be outrageously expensive!)

My husband and I took our children (9, 7, 5, 3) to see this movie and were horribly disappointed. There was a lot of sexual innuendos and inappropriate scenes for a so-called "kids" movie. What happened to cute movies? Why must we try to expose our children as early as possible to these things?
