Mackinac Island Review Summary

Mackinac Island, Michigan, is located just off of Michigan's two peninsulas. To arrive at the island you have to take a "boat from either Mackinaw City or St. Ignace." The island provides "historic cemeteries and many Victorian Houses", “beautiful", and "Peaceful and Serene." It was unanimous amongst our reviewers that Mackinac Island provides a beautiful place to enjoy the waters of the lake, as well as the old city that provided many glimpses into the past. Great Mackinac Island fudge, the history, and the fact that no motorized vehicles are allowed on the island all added to the great experiences that both couples and families found on Mackinac Island. The only slight complaint that reviewers had were the cost of the Mackinac Island ferries, and that it seemed expensive for a family to enjoy it. If this sounds like an interesting place to visit, check out the Mackinac Island Lodging choices.

Mackinac Island, home of Fort Mackinac and The Grand Hotel.

This island is located off of Michigan's two pennisula's.  Access to the island is by boat from either Mackinaw City or St. Ignace.  There are many boat companies to choose from and their prices are practically the same.  For a family of...

I have been to the island 10 times in the last 25 years. The only problem I have with travel to the island is the Scheplers ferry service....I was on the island leaving in the morning planning to go to work and wating for my luggage from the hotel..I asked the attendant (an elderly woman) if there was... read full review »

If your looking for a peaceful getaway with spouse/partner or with older children *13 and older*  this is the place to go or even just alone.

It is a lil pricy but well worth every dollar. no amount of words can explain how refreshed and relaxed i was after taking a trip to Mackinac Island. Another plus is there is no Veichles allowed on the island.. it is defantly the perfect place to escape to.

This was the most interesting trip I've made to date. A small, quiet island in the middle of lake. I love the scenery, and the historic attribute of this Macknic. It would be a nice place to have a honeymoon because it's different and relaxing. Imagine yourself in the 1890's: No loud cars, floral printed room, quilt blankets, a fort, and lady slippery flowers...

P.S. Do not pick the flowers. You can be fined $25 per a bud and with lady slippers $50 a bud. lol
