Consumer Note #1: According to the bottle label, this beer is blended with lactose (unfermentable milk sugar)

* Opaque brown-black liquid. Rocky chestnut colored head condenses and clings to glass

* Sweet vanilla-caramel-toffee aroma dominates the nose

* Rich, sweet, burnt toffee flavor at foretaste yields to roasty dark malt character with nutty notes towards finish

* Aftertaste is loooooong and reasonably well balanced, though sweetness wins the day

* Full bodied: creamy and satiny texture...plenty of mouthfeel to spare

Dessert beer, anyone?

I love a good dark beer and this does not disappoint. It is however a bit on the sweet side. Unlike most other beers that land fleetingly in my fridge, a six pack of this will definitely leave a few overnight guests on the shelf. One or two in a sitting is enough to get your fill. It's reminiscent of a sweet version of a strong coffee or tiramasu. It coats the tongue and fills the belly. Yummy!
