Good, But Needs Improvement

By

from Utah

Comments about MLB.tv:

I have used MLB.tv for the last three baseball seasons (as well as watching the occasional free game before that). For me personally, it works great, since I live in Utah but want to watch Phillies games. But viewers are limited to watching games that are out of their television market, even if their television market does not provide coverage of the games. I understand that this helps protect the bigger tv deals, but it also means that local fans are not able to use MLB.tv to watch their favorite teams. When I have gone back to visit family in Pennsylvania, we have not been able to use my MLB.tv, since we are in the Phillies viewing area. This is true even when their local service provider does not offer the option of watching them on live tv. MLB.tv could be greatly improved if they found a way to allow subscribers to watch in-market games as well. In addition, I have experienced several bugs this year in watching games. I usually watch through Xbox 360, and several of the promised features were made unavailable after I had already paid for them. On top of that, it has frozen or crashed in the middle of games more often this season than in the past (although this will partially depend on Internet service).

Great if you don't live where your team is!

Comments about MLB.tv:

I share this with my dad so we can both watch the Yankee games. I stream mostly through my Xbox which is a great perk - since it's HD and 1080p on a huge TV. He streams on his computer or watches the games on his TV. I have it on my tablet as well - but the quality isn't as good as my Xbox - I believe due to the strength of connection as my Xbox is hard wired to the modem. We are both Yankee fans and don't live in NY where they are broadcast locally.

They have a partnership with the YES network that allows us to watch the games no matter what. It it relatively inexpensive compared to the NBA and NFL packages that are out there. We are baseball fanatics and this is just the thing we need to watch our team from another city.
