MGM Grand Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas, NV —

My husband and I travel to Las Vegas at least 2 - 3 times a year and we only stay at two hotels: MGM Grand & The Mirage.  MGM has very nice comfortable rooms with decor that varies from classic movies to more modern contemporary decor.  The bathrooms are large and all marble with big fluffy towels.

The casino is huge!!! and has all the games that Vegas has to offer and will also from time to time have new games that haven't been circulated throughout Vegas casinos.  Because it's so large you can always find an open table or slot machine.  If your a high roller those areas are very elegant and always have small buffets and impeccable service. The dealers and cocktail waitresses are all very nice and accommodating.  Again this is Vegas and all hotel employees are nice - They want the money.

The restaurants are numerous (16) and offer every type of cuisine that you could think of - Italian, Japanese, Mexican, Mediterranean, American and of course the "Buffet".  The one unique feature of this hotel is their Food Court that has McDonald's, Sabbaro, Hagen Daz etc.  So if you don't want to spend a lot on meals this is great alternative.  The other restaurants you have to make reservations and they are pricey, the old $.99 Steak & Lobster you won't find here.

The spa and pool are the best - the only problem is they are quite a walk from the rooms and main lobby, but well worth it as you walk past all the shops that have souvenirs to high line clothing and jewelry.  The pool complex has a lazy river that you can rent inter-tubes and float around all day or they have 4 other pools with lots of chairs so there's always room.  They also have poolside drink servers and two snack bars as well as a restaurant.

The spa is very relaxing but expensive ($130 for a massage) they offer many types of Massages and Facials as well as body wraps and other European treatments.  With entry to the spa you can also work out in their Gym - I can't speak about that, when I'm on vacation I don't work out.  They also have a beauty salon within the spa complex where you can get Manicures & Pedicures and Cuts, Colors and Styles.  All of the services are a little pricey, but your on vacation enjoy!

The night life is abundant - 7 Bars and 2 theaters as well as the Grand Arena that has concerts and sporting events.  I have been to many sporting events at the Arena and have enjoyed them all.  The bars include Studio 54 for dancing and Ultra lounges like the West Wing Bar.  As with any hip bar in Vegas they are jammed on the week-ends with cover charges and long lines.

If you stay at the hotel be sure to get a players card that you put in the slot machines and give to the dealers to track your play and you will be on your way to free rooms, food and invitations to special events.  These cards are also good at all the other MGM properties - they now own more than half the hotels on the strip.

So pack your bags and enjoy!!!

The MGM is massive...here are a few points to minimize your walking time. First: Ask for a room near an elevator...this increases your chance for a wonderful view and also keeps you from walking to far and keeps you away from the West Wing which is segregated from the main lobby....second: Spend the money on a monorail pass...it really opens the entire strip to MGM visitors more than any other hotel.
