The Whiskers' matriarch "Flower," is a grand, tough little gal. She leads her family to forage for food, decides if they need to move their burrow, and leads the fight to protect their territory. Meerkat Manor is a family friendly show on Animal Planet. It is fun and exciting; far better than a human-scripted soap opera! They are so cute! Programming worth watching!
They do at times engage in fighting situations where they have to defend themselves from predators and/or rival meerkat groups. I feel that these situations are handled delicately on screen and is suitable for children. The types of situations that they encounter will surprise you, as most of them can parallel human life! It is clearly educational without the blandness of a docudrama!
People need a little drama in their lives. I love the soap opera lives of the meerkats, and I think the educational value is outstanding.
I also appreciate that the creation of this TV show allows scientists to continue studying these fascinating animals more intensively and for a longer time than they might otherwise have the resources to do.
