MAC Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask —

After the huge success of the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator last year, MAC finally released the Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask ($19.50) in their Fall 2009 Style Black Collection. This rich gooey-black formula contains real volcanic ash and natural oils to help keep the skin nice, clean and supple. Although the mask looks intimidating, it goes on smoothly and heats up immediately when it comes into contact with water. I like the duel-warming action, because on first application it serves to open up your pores, which allows the mask to remove dirt and other impurities more efficiently. The heat is then reactivated when rinsing, thereby improving circulation. The mask turns chalky and almost mud-like when it dries up, and I can feel the tightening effect on my pores. After rinsing my face feels really clean and soft. The only advice I would give is to use a small amount, because a little really does go a long way. And for $19.50? It's a total steal!
