MAC Silverstruck Nail Lacquer (Cult of Cherry Collection) —
When it came to nail polish, my first thoughts were never of MAC until a dear person bought me a MAC gold nail polish for Christmas last year, then I was hooked.MAC just came out with a new collection called CULT OF CHERRY collection. Although the collection is a concentration of the DARK almost gothic colors and deep reds, I found a little jewel nestled in the folds of the collection which is a lovely rosy colored taupe color.
SILVERSTRUCK NAIL POLISH IS NOT SILVER
As much as I love the color of this nail polish, it sure does not fit the name they gave it called SILVERSTRUCK. MAC SILVERSTRUCK NAIL LACQUER is not by any means silver. The color is instead a lovely rosy taupe color with rosy shimmer in it.
For those who are familiar with MAC products, I find that this color is like a combination of the extremely popular SMOKE & DIAMONDS eyeshadow (from the Starflash collection) anda touch of Heritage Rouge pigment (from the Overrich collection).
WHAT IS THE QUALITY LIKE?
MAC SILVERSTRUCK NAIL LACQUER is not anything radically outstanding in terms of quality, but I will say that my test nail application of three coats stayed on for three days with no base or top coat- and there was almost no chipping. This is worth noticing for me.
Upon single application, the sheerness of SILVERSTRUCK NAIL LACQUER is a bit disappointing at first- it is almost totally sheer. The problem is not the sheerness, it is the uneveness that the polish applies with.
In order to get a really nice coverage, I found that three light coats does the trick nicely. I let them dry breifly between and then made sure that I was not going to use my nails for about an hour to let it set very nicely.
The texture is not overly shiny, but it is not matte either. It is listed on the MAC product list as being a frost.
I have given this four stars because the price is quite high compared to brands with better
performance like China Glaze.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT MAC SILVERSTRUCK NAIL LACQUER
One thing I must say that I like about MAC Nail Lacquers is that the black cap is very big around, but not too big for holding. It has a rubbery surface texture on it. This makes it very easy to manuver the brush for application and it also makes it easy to hang on to.
The brush is just the right size and has a nice spring to it so that it is easy to move it where I need it and not all over the nail out of control.
