It takes me a good long while before I will try a new makeup product, even when it's buy a name as trusted as MAC.  I have learned over my life time that spending $5.00 on some piece of junk from the drug store (although there are a few good things in there, don't get me wrong), doesn't pay off, when you end up trashing it and then heading to the department store to spend $20.00 on the real deal.  So I knew that this product had to be good, but I had to be ready to plunk down the cash.

Marlena, AKA Makeup Geek, of www.makeupgeek.com, and many, many youtube.com tutorial videos, loves this product.  She uses it in almost every makeup tutorial that she does, occasionally choosing something else, but most often, she reaches for the MAC Painterly Paint Pot and smears it on her lids before applying her eye look.

I had been coveting this cream-to-powder formula for quite some time, and finally went down to my local MAC counter (at Nordstrom) for a visit with a makeup guru.  Ended up buying this, a 217 brush, and some brush cleanser, all good buys.

So the first thing I notice when I put it on at home is how creamy and smooth it is, and how very, very little you need to cover your whole lid.  As many other reviews I have read have stated, this little pot of stuff is going to last a long time.

It goes on your lids completely creamy, and dries very quickly.  It just so happens that it's a perfect color for my skin tone, so I can use it as an undereye concealer, and a blemish/imperfection coverup.  Pretty good for one little pot of stuff!

Paint Pots come in several colors, some bold and funky, and some subdued and natural (like Painterly) - you can use them as bases or on their own.  On it's own, Painterly gives me a nice, rested, no-makeup look.  Like perhaps my eyelids are made of velvet all of their own right.  With eyeshadow on top?  BAM - I can't be stopped!  I am going out tonight, and can't wait to see my shadow last all day long (because it totally does).

Should you get this?  YES!!! if you:

  1. like your eyeshadow to stay on for more than a couple of hours
  2. enjoy quality products
  3. want to feel pampered
  4. want the vibrancy of the pigments in your shadows to stand out
  5. get more bang for your buck out of all your shadows because you can use LESS

In other words... go buy it NOW!!!!  What are you waiting for?  I waited 6 months to get this because I'm an idiot!  Don't be an idiot, go get it!!
