cult classic

I use this for my eyelids everyday. I have very fair skin, and unfortunately my eyelids are super purple and my veins stick out pretty obviously. The paint pot is amazing for covering up the imperfections and prepping my lids for eye shadow, but most days I just wear it on it's own. It is the one thing that really brightens up my appearance and makes me look alive. I like to add Rosehip Seed Oil so that my lids get a little extra hydration, and it also helps the paint pot to be a little more spreadable. I usually use a concealer brush to apply it and then I set it with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. This stuff is talked about so much for a reason. I have tried many other eye primers, and they just don't have the coverage that the paint pot has. I will forever repurchase. It doesn't crease at all and lasts all day long. When I wash off my makeup in the evening, it is sometimes the only thing besides my mascara that is still on.

Where Do I Even Begin...

5

I think I have gone through at least 5 pots of MAC's Paint Pots in Painterly this year. This is one of my makeup secrets. Painterly is a neutral cream that I use as an eyeshadow primer. I have very oily eye lids, and when I say that the eye shadow doesn't go ANYWHERE, I mean it! Say good bye to creases and fading colors. This stuff WORKS. It also lasts a really long time; I get a new pot every few months. I apply this to my eyelid, put some powder over it to set it, then apply my eyeshadow and eyeliner. The eye shadows go on more vibrantly; You can see the colors more than if you applied them directly to the lid. And most importantly, it LASTS ALL DAY. That's right. ALL DAY. I have never found a product comparable to MAC's Paint Pots. And Painterly just happens to be one of my favorites; All of the colors are excellent! Forgets other primers; this should be your go-to. They make other neutral shades as well, such as Bare Ochre, which is more suited towards lighter skin types. I have gotten all of my friends hooked. Just try it once, and you will be too!

MAC Paint Pot in Painterly is one of my very favoite makup items

I love this product so much. I use it as an eyeshadow base, but sometimes use it alone for a more natural look. I love that it goes on so smooth and stays put. I have had mine almost a year now. In the past when I have used an eye shadow in a pot with a screw-on lid, it dries out eventually. This product has not done that at all. I use it almost every day! It is such a great color.

Sore Eyes, Cracked Shadow- Isn't That Flattering?

2

When MAC first came out with their paint pots, I thought it would be an exciting development. The promise was that these paint pots were going to take the place of MAC Paints which tended to be a bit irritating and frustrating to work with for some people. When Painterly came out, I made sure to grab a jar immediately so I could use it for a base and a natural eye finish for a nude look in makeup. Boy, was I surprised. First of all, MAC Paint Pot in Painterly is a matte flesh toned paint pot which is supposed to be applied right to the skin. It works for me the first day- okay. However, if my eyes water, it does not stay on- but it cracks and comes off. Secondly, not only does this paint pot not stay on if my eyes water (such as crying or allergy eyes), if I use this paint pot more than one or two days, my eye lids get very raw and sore. It takes some time to recover from it. I also find that the texture of this paint pot accents crepe texture on the eyes. As a base, I find that the texture does not hold most shadows like Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Primer does. In conclusion, I have to say that despite it being nice in theory, this paint pot is just not good for me to use. If I have to use a primer first, why bother? I find that Bobbi Brown Cream shadows in natural colors work better from me than this paint pot does.

MAC Painterlily Paint Pot works wonders!!!

5

I have tried many eyeshadow bases and MAC's Painterlily Paint Pot is by far the best! I used to use Urban Decay's primar potion but even that left my eyeshadow creased after hours of wearing (I still thing UDPP is great!). Painterlily's thick consistancy held my eyeshadow in place and really made the color pop! A strong base is the key to great looking eye makeup. It can be worn as a base with powder eyeshadow worn on top or you can just wear it by itself. I ususally just wear it by itself and add a little bit of eyeliner and mascara. The color is wonderful and really seems to perk up the eye area. The product can be applied using a brush or just your fingertip. You do not need to use a lot of product at all. The jar should last over 6 months if used every day. The only down side I could possibly thing of is the price. It is a little more expensive than drugstore brands but it is well worth it. I absolutly love this stuff!!!

Mac "Painterly" is a perfect shadow base

5

I've tried a lot of eyeshadow bases and ran into a lot that crease. I tried the Mac paintpots in a couple different colors and really like them. My favorite is painterly which is a very light pink color without any shimmer. I use it under all of my eyeshadows and they stay on longer and don't crease. I used to use a brush to apply it but found that using my finger works perfectly. The paint pot lasts for a really long time so I only have to buy one about every six months. One other color that I like is the Soft Ocre which is a yellowish matte color. It too is a good base but I really recommend the painterly.

I LOVE MAC PAINT POT IN PAINTERLY

I have recieved the MAC Paint pot in "Painterly" as a gift for Christmas. I am not sure of the price. I absolutely love this product! It works amazingly for my eyeshadows. I apply this in the morning before I put on my eyeshadow. This keeps on my eyeshadows all day long! I have no problem with my eyeshadows wearing off. This does the job! Also, I like the color of it, it's pretty light. Another thing, I like how pigmented this is. I know some eyeshadow primers and eyeshadow bases I have had in the past are not very pigmented, but I do not have that problem with this. Also, I like the consistency. It's sticky enough to hold onto my eye to just wear as an eyelid color, and it's strong enough to keep my eyeshadows on all day! I really do recommend this product. it's easy to apply, it's an awesome color, it works great for an eyeshadow, it works good for an eyeshadow base, and I just love everything about this! I really reccomend this!

MAC Paint Pot is awesome!

I absolutely love MAC cosmetics!  I was thrilled to discover that their eye products, including this MAC Paint Pot in Painterly stay on super nice.  Seriously, it is the best eyeshadow that I've ever tried.  It lasts ALL DAY, which is hard to find in an eyeshadow.  Usually I am re-applying two or even three times per day, so this was awesome to discover.  I will forever be a MAC girl!  It also lasts a really long time, so even though you are paying a little bit more for it, it is such a great value.  I've had mine for a really long time, and I still have a lot left.  Even though it goes on as a cream, it does not ever crease, and dries very quickly.  That is one thing that I was skeptical about when I first bought it, the creasing, but it never has.  I absolutely love it.  THis stuff stays put, and stay son so nicely it's awesome!  It is easy to apply and use, and you definitely want to use an eyemakeup remover when taking it off!

Mac paint pot

I am a freelance makeup artist and I have to say that I love this product and use it everyday on myself and have used it probably the most on clients. I love macs paint pots in general but painterly is probably the one that I use the most because it fits almost everyone color the best. You put in on your eyelids before your eyeshadow as a base to prevent creasing and really it works great as a base on almost anyone! You cant put to much though because it will do the oppsite and crease. It's really such a great color and will stay put all day long. Very good quality product. It is a bit high price as with all m.a.c products but you pay for what you get and it's great and with the amount you get it lasts a really long time so it's well worth the price even if you use this every day. it isn't a primer but more of a base for your eyeshadows, you  can also use it alone with out eyeshadows if you would like, its very creamy and dries fast. Very pigmented.
