WHEE! I am so excited- Finally someone has come out with an entire array of neon type pigments that are very versatile if used carefully.

One of the six neon colors just officially released by MAC today is RED ELECTRIC. And WHAT a color it is!

WHAT IS MAC RED ELECTRIC NEON PRO PIGMENT LIKE?

MAC NEON PRO PIGMENT IN RED ELECTRIC is a fantastic color. It is the true warm very hot pink red that I remember from the 1980s florescent craze.

This is one of the MAC NEON PRO PIGMENTS that is truly neon in color. Some of the others are not quite neon in my opinion.

The texture is very light and feathery in consistency. It is easy to sheer way out or build up to use as a vivid neon type color. Its consistency allows for a certain translucence that makes the colors pretty and not gaudy when applied to the skin.

HOW TO USE MAC RED ELECTRIC

Just like professional hair products have many cautions on them for the "average public", so MAC professional pigments come with cautions. None of these NEON PIGMENTS are recommended for eye use, just like many professional products for hair are not recommended for use by anyone but licensed hair stylists.

It is a matter of discovering which you can use, and use common sense.

No pigment should be used on bare skin. Make sure that you have a good base.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance (not a MAC product) is a good base, but I would not stop there, I would use another product over it.

MAC Fluidlines make a wonderful base, as do MAC Liquidlast Liners- also as a shadow base. The disadvantage is that you have to pick a color that coordinates with the pigment, which is difficult when using a neon.

Another choice is Lancome Colour Dose in that pink orange color- that makes a good base.

Lancome Aquatique is another heavy duty choice which would protect the eye skin well.

Once you have used a good amount of protective layer on the eye, then you can apply the pigment in a very smal area to test first. If you have no problems, they try it out on one eye for a day to test it again.

If you still are problem free, then it is most likely safe for you to use on a limited basis.

Many people use MAC pro pigments that are not listed as eye safe with no problems as long as they use them over a good heavy base first.

I will caution you that reds, pinks, and oranges tend to give the most problems of any pigments if you are going to have a sensitivity, so test out thorougly before you try to wear these on the eyes out somewhere.

USE ELECTRIC NEON RED AS A BLUSH????

Yes, this makes a fabulous blush. I really love this stuff. I have to say that MAC RED ELECTRIC NEON PRO PIGMENT makes one of the nicest blushes I have used to date- especialy for summer and also for darker skin. It really livens up the complexion of darker skinned people making for a more youthful appearance!

What I especially like about it is that it is not a shimmery finish, but just a nice glow- it does not look neon at all when used sheerly as a blush.

I prefer the MAC 187 brush (skunk looking brush) for application because it spreads out the application very well. Play with different brushes, but remember, a little of this goes a long way.

AND A LIP COLOR???

Yes, you can also use RED ELECTRIC NEON PIGMENT as a lipcolor.

If you smear it over lip gloss or lipstick, it will keep its neon appearance, but it will feel a bit dry.

I tend to prefer mixing it into gloss or lip products first- although it loses its neon capacity , it still is a gorgeous color and lovely on the lips.

I also plan to mix RED ELECTRIC NEON PIGMENT as a nice base color with different shimmers and such.

ALERT!

There is only 2.5g of product in this jar for the same price as the usual 7.5g of pigments ($19.50). Be aware of that- it will not be full when you purchase it.

FINAL DETAILS

You can order RED ELECTRIC PRO NEON PIGMENT from MAC PRO by calling

1-800-387-6707

or you can find a MAC PRo store at

www.macpro.com

OR

www.maccosmetics.com

And use the FIND STORES function. I prefer the MACPRO site because you can ask for only MAC Pro stores if you want- making it a lot easier to search.

There is a flat shipping fee if you order right from a store, which is nice- no matter how much you order, you pay one fee. I think it is around $7.

FINAL COMMENTs

RED ELECTRIC is one of my favorite colors in the MAC NEON PRO PIGMENTS. It is a lovely blush and lip color and I can definitey see myself using a whole jar eventually over time. Although a little goes a long way, I love it as a blush especially, and will use it often.
