In case this is your first review you have read of MAC Neon Pigments, MAC just released a set of six different neon colors of professional pigments made official today. The colors are brilliant, and surprisingly useable even by shy people who are not fond of bright colors.

One of the colors in this collection is called FULL FORCE VIOLET.

WHAT IS FULL FORCE VIOLET LIKE?

MAC NEON PIGMENT IN FULL FORCE VIOLET is a beautiful purple/violet/blue color that is unlike anything out there that I have seen. It is really intense and reflects light like a glowing vibrant appearance- not many pigments out there are like this.

Despite its lovely intense nature which makes me love to stare at it, the one thing I am not fond of is its powdery texture. The others all have the same kind of texture, but for some reason, FULL FORCE VIOLET is harder to make stick to the skin than all of the others in this NEON PIGMENT collection.

HOW TO USE FULL FORCE VIOLET

The hair industry has made a mark in the sand, so to speak, that some hair stylist products are not made to be used by anyone but professionals and in some places it is considered illegal to do so.

Well, MAC does not go that far, but because these products are designed with the professional in mind, they have a warning on them that they are not considered "eye safe".

In the past many MAC pigmets have come with the same warnings, but when used carefully over thick protective bases to protect the skin, many of them can be used with no problems on many people.

I will say that reds and purples (including pinks) are the most prone to cause sensitivities in some people, so make sure to test well before using them on a full scale.

Having said that, I would use these over a combination of products- a general eye base like Too Faced Shadow Insurance would go first, followed by MAC Fluidline or Liquidlast liner as an eyeshadow base over that (in a purple color) and then I would possibly add a Shadestick to that in Royal Hue (purple) or not.

Before the products can set, I would quickly apply the pigment over it using either a 222, 217 or a 239 brush (the first two as a wash, the last one to gently press the pigments into place).

USE THIS AS A BLUSH?

Believe it or not, sometimes purples make beautiful blushes in some combinations, and I would not hesitate to mix a tiny bit of this with MAC NEON PIGMENT IN MAGENTA MADNESS and use as a blush.

The trick to using any of these pigments is to make sure that the skin is sufficiently moisturized so that the products will stick, but not so much so that they will go on splotchy, if that makes any sense to you.

YEP- ALSO AS A LIPCOLOR

Again, this mixed with Magenta Madness will give a vibrant violet lipcolor. If mixed with gloss or other lip product, the neon factor will go way down, but it still is a beautiful sheer color that would go well with a lot of things.

STAINING?

I have heard reports of the MAC NEON PIGMENTS staining, but so far I have not had any problems with them. If I do, I will update my reviews to reflect this.

ALERT!

There is only 2.5g of product in this jar, compared to the usual 7.5g that come in most other MAC pigments- be aware of this before purchase. Your jar will NOT be filled to the top.

FINAL DETAILS

You can get MAC NEON PIGMENT IN FULL FORCE VIOLET by calling

1-800-387-6707

For 2.5g of product, you pay $19.50.

You can also go to

www.macpro.com

and look up MAC Pro stores around the US. If you call them they will ship out orders with a $7 flat shipping fee, if I remember correctly. Each store could be different, I am not sure.

LAST WORDS

Despite the powdery texture, I love this color and will do whatever I have to to make it work. Its vibrance is far beyond that of any other purple that I have, and it will make for some amazing looks.

I should have given it four stars because of its powdery texture being hard to work with, but I love the color so much, I could not bear to do that.
