Pros

great for use on darker skintones, great as a lipcolor, lovely bright neon orange, feather light texture, very blendable, sheers out beautifully, excellent as a blush

Cons

has to be purchased at MAC Pro stores, only 2.5g instead of 7.5g, not listed as eye safe

Have you ever walked by those cones they use on road construction- those neon orange ones- and wished you could have a makeup item like that? How about hunting vests- that neon orange color - does that make you wish you had a lip color like that?

If any of that appeals to you, then you have to have MAC NEON PIGMENT IN NEO ORANGE. It is one of six new neon pigments that MAC officially released today through the MAC Pro stores.

WHAT IS NEO-ORANGE LIKE?

MAC NEON PIGMENT IN NEO ORANGE is one of the six neon pigments that MAC released today that truly IS neon in nature. I have not tried it yet, but I have been told that this will react to black lights thus making it even more fun for clubbing and over all color and black light fanatics.

NEO-ORANGE NEON PIGMENT is the same bright orange you see in Crossing Guard Strips, some hunting gear, and in most "LOOK AT ME" neon orange things you can think of.

What makes it very unique and highly desireable is that it is fantastic as a blush- ESPECIALLY FOR DARK SKIN!!!

The texture is delightfully light and fluffy and it blends beautifully. I love to use it sheer as well as vividly. My favorite use for it so far is blush, however.

HOW TO USE NEO ORANGE

Just like the professional hair stylist products have warnings about using them, so it is with many MAC Professional products that they release. MAC NEON PIGMENTS are no exception. Because the intense dyes used in these pigments can cause allergic reactions in some people, they are not recommended for use on eyes.

However, with prior testing, and use over heavy eye bases, many people have been able to use MAC Pro pigments that are not listed as eye-safe very successfully with no problems. However, it is always best to test thoroughly first.

I do know that the red based pigments (including this one) are the most likely to cause a problem if there is to be one, so make sure to test well before you decide to use them near the eyes at all.

NEON PIGMENT AS A BLUSH?????

Other than accents around the eyes, MAC NEO-ORANGE NEON PIGMENT makes one of the nicest blushes I have seen in a long time. It is a non-shimmery finish which brings out a beautiful glow. It looks really lovely on darker skintones too- depending on the tone of the skin.

I have to say that this is one of my favorite blushes to use this summer so far. It does not look neon at all when used sheerly as a blush. I use the MAC 187 brush (the skunk brush) for good distribution so that it does not look splotchy. You can experiment for what looks good to you.

A little goes a long way, however!

NEON PIGMENT AS A LIPCOLOR??????

Yep, you can also use this on your lips. The best way to use it is to either put a gloss or product on the lips and then smear the pigment over it with a finger or brush. Then apply a shimmery gloss over top.

Another way, which is my favorite way, is to mix in a touch of pigment with a gloss or lipcolor and then apply. Unfortunately, it does tone down the neon quality of the pigment a lot, but it does make for a pretty nice orange lipcolor.

If you are going for neon lips, then this is not the application process you want.

ALERT!

You do not get the full 7.5g of product despite the pigment being in the exact same jars as all of the rest of MAC's pigments. Instead, the MAC neon pigments only come with 2.5g of product. THAT IS LESS THAN HALF so don't expect the container to be filled up completely- it won't

For now, these are MAC Pro only products. I am not sure if they will release them to the general MAC counters in the future or not.
