If you want to know the story of how I discovered Technakohl liners and how amazingly they stay on the waterline, you can read about it in my FULL OF FUCHSIA TECHNAKOHL EYE-LINER KAJAL review.
The most anticipated product that I have had from MAC has been a true LIME GREEN eyeliner that actually stays on the waterline AND the eyelid. When I heard that COLOUR MATTERS TECHNAKOHL EYE-LINER KAJAL was coming out, I got very excited. Technakohl eyeliners have been fantastic for me in the past, but one thing you need to understand about makeup is that no matter how excellent a line of products is, each individual pigment in the makeup will affect how the product wears.
This is true of any line- pigment colors affect product performance so each color has to be viewed independently of the others in a line of products as not all are equal in the way they act and look.
WHAT IS COLOUR MATTERS TECHNAKOHL EYE-LINER KAJAL LIKE?
As I stated in another review of RATED R EYESHADOW from MAC, I did not like the color of Rated R and the formula burned my eyelids even through a base. COLOUR MATTERS TECHNAKOHL EYE-LINER KAJAL is almost identical to RATED R eyeshadow in color so I was not sure if I would like it or not.
The best way to compare COLOUR MATTERS TECHNAKOHL EYE-LINER is to say that it resembles True Chartreuse Pro Pigment from MAC. The texture is matte and not shimmery, which gives a different visual on this liner from the others. The effect is a bit glowy which is fun and unusual, but performancewise I am just not sure I like this as well.
The automatic pencil form of this starts it out with a chiseled point. That means that you can make a fine line or a thicker line if you tilt the pencil. The problem is that you have to conciously use the pencil to keep that point or it will get flat and leave you without that versatility.
For $14.50, you get 3.5g of product. The container is not like the eyebrow pencils, however, that once you click it up into place you can not bring it down again. Thankfully the Technakohls can be retracted so you can see how much you have left if you want, although it is still hard to keep track of it.
HOW TO USE COLOUR MATTERS TECHNAKOHL EYE-LINER KAJAL PENCIL
COLOUR MATTERS can be used on the lid, the waterline and I also use it for crazy lipliner looks once in a great while. I find that if blended well and used carefully it can really look amazing with certain lipsticks for certain looks.
The application of COLOUR MATTERS TECHNAKOHL EYELINER is a bit trickier than other colors in the Technakohl line. The liner goes on rather sheer at first and I find that it is important to let the liner dry and then make another application.
You can blend the edges of this liner if you work quickly as once it sets you can not move it. I also find that COLOUR MATTERS makes a great base under pigments or eyeshadows too.
On the waterline, COLOUR MATTERS looks very pretty, but I find that it does not stick to the waterline as well as some of the other colors. I find that more of it ends up on the roots of the bottom lashes than on the skin of the waterline.
For lip looks I like to feather it in lightly and then apply red lipstick with Old Gold pigment over top or Enriched Gold (gold with lime shimmer) over top and when the lipstick goes right up to the edge of the liner, it really looks pretty. Not a look for constant wear, it is fun for special occasions.
COMMENTS
Although I am disappointed in the staying power of COLOUR MATTERS TECHNAKOHL EYELINER KAJAL, I still give it 4 stars as it does stay on somewhat. I like the color and enjoy using it although I do think that it could be a bit better in pigmentation and staying power. I also would prefer a shimmery version of this color in a deeper lime color- a touch of bright kelly to it perhaps.
I have only a swatch photo of this right now and if you click on it, it will become bigger and you can see it better. I plan to update this review with more photos as I am able to get them for you to show different ways that I like to use COLOUR MATTER TECHNAKOHL.
