PARROT!!! OMG YOU HAVE PARROT?????
I remember the days a few years ago or so that the most highly sought after eyeshadow from MAC cosmetics was Parrot.
The funny part is that I happened to be on the lookout for the *perfect* turquoise eyeshadow for years. I mean YEARS.
Either they were too faded, or too blue, or too green, not iridescent enough, burned, faded, disappered- gosh the list is long, but nothing was working for me.
What I wanted was in your face, iridescent peacock quality brilliant turquoise blue with lime green shimmer or something like that that did not burn, but went in intensely and lasted all day, was easy to blend, and that looked GREAT on me.
Not too much to ask, right?
Well, I happened to make a very rare trip to a MAC counter (we have no MAC anywhere near me) while on a short vacation weekend. I saw this turquoise color, bought it and also a blue turquoise shadestick to use under it, and I was very happy. Not totally happy, mind you, because I had to use them together- alone, Parrot was just meh.
But it was the closest I ever came to my ultimate turquoise eyeshadow.
WHAT IS BLUE SORCERY MINERALIZE EYESHADOW LIKE?
It had been some time since I had acquired anything from MAC, so I decided to try out a few of the new MINERALIZE EYESHADOWS from the MAC HOLIDAY 2009 collection.
When I opened my package I was amazed- WOW! SOMEONE PUNCHED THE PARROT!!!
BLUE SORCERY MINERALIZE EYESHADOW from the MAC HOLIDAY 2009 collection is a GORGEOUS punched up version of MAC Parrot eyeshadow. It is a mineralize finish which means that it is baked and is a bit more shimmery than the conventional eyeshadows that MAC puts out.
What is unique about the MAC HOLIDAY 2009 MINERALIZE EYESHADOWS is that they are creamier in consistency and you do not have to use them wet to get them to go on intensely. THAT Is a big improvement.
One side of the BLUE SORCERY eyeshadow is a brilliant teal blue color, and then about 1/3 of the container is a cheesy sliver glitter bunch of junk crammed in there which is supposed to be used with the BLUE SORCERY. Quite frankly, it is almost useless- lots of fallout and not much substance.
There is 2.2 g of product in the container for the price of $19.50. I think that they would have been better off putting in all teal blue and then lowering the price to $18. But I am not MAC, then, am I? ;)
HOW WELL DOES BLUE SORCERY PERFORM?
So far, I am impressed with BLUE SORCERY. I have to test it out further for sensitivities and experimentation but my first uses of it have been very positive. BLUE SORCERY blends well, it goes on either very sheery or builds up beautifully. When used well, well it is a very vivid intense color.
I have to say that BLUE SORCERY is more like a cross between Parrot and Teal pigment sometimes and other times it looks like a dead ringer for Parrot but just made more intense which is what I love.
When used over Sea Me shadestick (blue turquoise base color) I find that the color is absolutely gorgeous. Sea Me Shadestick is no longer sold at MAC, but another base in similar color would be beautiful as well.
I am very surprised at how beautiful and easy to work with BLUE SORCERY is. When used dry, it is very pretty, stays on well over an eyeshadow base, but the white silvery part is not very good unless applied with a wet brush. Then it is acceptable. There is a lot of fallout though and it is not MAC's best quality, imo.
But BLUE SORCERY is so beautiful that it is worth it anyway.
FINAL COMMENTs
If you liked Parrot or other teal blue eyeshadows, you might want to check out BLUE SORCERY. It is very intense and has a tendency to go from blue to green teal in the light so it is fun to work with.
