Luigi Bormioli Gallerie 4 in 1 Cake Plate Review

I got my Luigi Bormioli 4-in-1 Serving Dishat Target for about $19.  I now see that this was a very good deal since I see the same item online for $30 and up!  Go to target, it's a much better deal.

I bought this for one reason only, I was making a cake and I needed a Cake Plate to display it in.  There were a few options available at Target, but this one caught my attention because it said it had 4 uses in 1.  When I got home, I realized it really only has 3 uses, but even so, it's still very much worth the price.

As a Cake Plate, this item worked well and made my cake look extra nice, however it was heavy.  The lid stayed on because of the dots around the edges, but I could tell that if I had slipped at all the lid would easily fall off.  This cake plate is more for displaying the cake and not the best idea for travel (unless you are traveling close by OR holding onto it during the trip).  It does make the cake look very nice though and makes for great pictures!

The second use is as a Punch Bowl.  The lid turns over and the base turns over so that the lid can nest inside the base.  I measured it out before using it and I was amazed that it holds 160oz (5 gallons) which is plenty for any occasion I would have.  The only downside when using the punch bowl is that the lid does not snap securely into the base making it hard to move when full.  It's best to position it before filling it OR have a friend carry the bottom while you carry the top.  The weight of the punch bowl is actually a positive because it keeps it stable and there is no worry that someone will tip it when getting their drink.

The third use which I haven't tried yet is as a Veggie and Dip Tray.  You could really put any dip in the middle and any dippers on the sides.  The bowl is actually the base of the cake plate, so it's attached to the plate where you have 4 sections to put your veggies.  I haven't needed it for this yet but I plan to use it for this!  The lid can be placed on top to keep the veggies covered while you wait for guests to arrive.

The reason I don't think there are 4 uses is because the 4th use (see pic) is just using the bottom half of the cake plate for mini-desserts.  It's really the same thing as using it as a cake plate if you ask me!

Overall I highly recommend this product.  Yes it's heavy, yes you have to be careful with it, but in the end it looks very nice and holds a lot of food.  At around $19, with 3 uses, that's only about $6.30 per use!  I never planned to buy a punch bowl, thinking it would be too expensive for the amount of times I would use it, but now I got one for $6.30!  Check this out at Target today.  Enjoy!!
