I had an interesting experience when I decided to remodel my kitchen. It's a small kitchen (only about 10 X 12) so, I thought it wouldn't be a difficult remodel. WRONG! I got an estimate from Home Depot and Lowe's for cabinets, countertops, flooring & appliances.  Lowes was much less expensive for more cabinets, and their installation was less, so I went with them for the cabinets, countertops and appliances (stove, built in microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal and sink). Home Depot had the floor covering I wanted so ordered that from them. First, all of the cabinets weren't delivered in the first shipment, (was missing a cabinet and they sent the wrong size for another cabinet) so I had to wait for a second delivery. Then the installer was too booked up so had to wait until he could install. Installation was the biggest nightmare! It took almost a year to get it completed the way it was supposed to be in the plans. There were 2 glaring problems. The original installation took about 3 months but then the pantry wasn't completed until almost a year later (just a small pantry...all they had to do was put the doors on properly). Big problem! The plans called for 2 swing out doors but they had put 2 upper and 2 lower doors on with a bar across the middle, which made it impossible to reach back into the pantry, which is quite deep. I finally had to threaten legal action before they fixed the problems and joined the upper doors and lower doors to make 2 complete doors and removed the middle bar. The other problem was the utility drawer next to the stove. It wouldn't open, as it kept hitting against the oven door handle. Lowes kept saying I ordered too big of a stove. I pointed out that I had given all of the information about the appliances to the designer, who had planned everything accordingly. Finally had to order a smaller drawer and put fill in pieces to fill in the hole where the larger drawer was. This is difficult to explain, but the kitchen was an L shape with the utility drawer in the corner butting up against the L to the stove. Anyway, suffice it to say, it was a nerve wracking experience. I don't think I would recommend anyone to have their remodeling done through Lowes. I will say, however, that the quality of the cabinets is impressive and I am happy with the way my new kitchen looks, now that it is completed.
