Want to feel great for a couple of hours?
Whether you're on a first date, home alone, or watching a movie with someone you've been married to for 20 years, Love Actually is a guaranteed good time.   I watch it once a year and having just finished (again!), can say it never loses its ability to make me smile.  I see on IMDB it had two Golden Globe nominations, so someone agrees with my Two Thumbs Up.

The Plot
In case you don't know, the film - set in England in the weeks prior to Christmas - has 10 plot lines going at once, all easy to follow, and each with an interesting little slice-of-life drama going on:  the heartbroken ex-husband, the randy young single guy who can't find love in England, the widower, the little kid in love, the lonely politician, the single girl with a sad secret, and even two shy porn stars who fancy each other.   Bill Nighy steals the show as an aging rocker who's far too blunt for his own good.  Don't be surprised as the story lines start in intermingle.    Unrequited love is presented as being both heart-breaking and the safer option.  The film's ending is supremely satisfying.

One to See, Again and Again
Yes, I'm a romantic.   And yes, I love comedy.   But yes, I also need talent to keep me happy.  This film's writer are supremely talented, and my hat's off to the casting director.  When choosing films, I bank on Bill Nighy, Emma Thompson, Laura Linney, and Liam Neeson.  I also get a kick out of the charming Hugh Grant (poster boy for unwilling sexy male lead).

The Bottom Line:  Libby Loves It!

Not a huge fan of the film, but I can understand why some like it quite a bit. Your pasion for the film comes through, nicely written review.

Absolutely classic - one of my favorites. Ironically enough, I just watched it last night!
