The Lotus Elise is a driver's car. It can be a daily driver, but you have to be flexible. This is a little car that will turn heads and unusual enough that most will ask, "What kind of car is that?" Some people are looking for a car that will turn heads. Some people feel the pride of knowing that they are driving a car that is faster and better handling than more than 90% of the cars around them. It's easy to park, but who wants to park it, when you can drive it. The Lotus Elise is most fun on the weekends when you really don't have to be somewhere at a given time. When the drive is the activity of choice for the day, then you will want to cruise all day.
The ammenities are slim with air conditioning and a radio, but this is to keep the weight light and acceleration very responsive. The stock seats are not necessarily the most comfortable for the same reason. This would make very long trips somewhat tiring, but an after market upgrade to Recaro or Sparko should solve this issue nicely.
The sound of the engine and road surround you. This is not a car that tries to be an extension of your living room. The driver in you wants to hear the windup of the engine, especially if you upgraded to the turbo. If you want to have a quiet conversation with your passenger, pull over and enjoy a coffee and watch people admire your Lotus. Smile as it gleams in the sunlight, enjoy the thrill of the acceleration and grip in the turns. This is a driver's car. And if you're looking for still more, look no further than it's big brother, the Lotus Exige S. More of everything and entering into the super car range for very little more money. Be a driver and be safe.
