Los Cabos is Baja California's biggest sun and sun Mecca. It's the only mega-resort area on the peninsula, and its biggest drawing cards are its spectacular sportfishing and its challenging but naturally scenic golf courses. Of course, with a beach that's over 30 miles in length, tan maintenance and every type of watersport imaginible are popular activities too, but it's really the anglers and the duffers who find some of Mexico's "biggest and best".

Big fish are abundant off the tip of Baja California and fishing charters are a whole lot cheaper than they are back in the U.S. Where else can you go after 300-pound marlins for a mere $100 per person charter fee? As if the great fishing and low prices weren't incentive enough, you get back to the docks and unwind in a salty seaside cantina where the ice cold beers quench your thirst for a mere dollar.

Los Cabos is also a much better destination for the true golf fanatic than anything in the southwestern United States. The golf courses are better, they're far more scenic, and they're more ecologically sound with sustainable turf management practices (none of the irresponsible irrigation that goes on in Nevada and Arizona!) When you play a course in Los Cabos, you have stunning backdrops of brilliant blue Pacific waves, and you have challenging holes that NATURALLY meld with the rolling rocky seashores. The result is a series of courses that are rivaled in the U.S. only by classic courses like Pebble Beach. There's at least 8 of these courses too, and they're lined up every couple miles as you drive down the resort strip between the twin anchor towns of San Jose Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. It's no wonder that Los Cabos is considered one of "the world's top 5 golf destinations". One look tells you why...

There's a lot of fun things to do in Los Cabos. For the nature lovers, there's whale watching cruises, dolphin experience treks, and raw natural beaches towards the northeast of Los Cabos. There's elegant traditional hotels in San Jose del Cabo and there's big resorts with big resort-class swimming pools all along the shoreline. There's luxurious spas. There's windsurfing, jet skiing, parasailing, and offshore scuba dive sites. There's lively nightlife in the clubs of Cabo San Lucas. Los Cabos is a big resort area: it's got tours, treks, and activities galore. It's got restaurants where the seafood is so fresh that it was swimming just a few hours ago, and its got a casual, mellow vibe.

There's a lot to do in a place like Los Cabos, but in my opinion, its an area that truly excels when it comes to fishing and golfing. You can find better swimming beaches in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. You can find better dive and snorkling sites in Cozumel. You can find better nightlife in Acapulco. And you can find a better traditional town environment in Puerto Vallarta. But nowhere in Mexico....nowhere....do you find better golfing or sportfishing than you find in Los Cabos.

We seem to hit here on a lot of cruises. My main memory was my daughter parasailing - they get her ready, the boat is taking off and she says, "I changed my mindddddddddddddd" Well that's what we heard as she went into the air! ROFL
