Peter Jackson's third film of the ambitious RING trilogy is the best.
Even if you weren't obsessed with the books in Junior High school, this is one of the most breathtaking epic adventure films ever made. It's fantasy and humanistic elements are blended seamlessly-at least until the film's sappy last half hour (and given the book's anti-climatic ending-Jackson's improved it).
You can quibble about all kinds of things with the films (yeah some interesting characters were left out, some character motivations given short shrift at least until extended footage is added), but they remain just quibbles...
review »Lord of the Rings Return of the King is the third of the trilogy and well worth it. The music, the characters truly are exceptional. This part is the last of the great war and the destruction of the ring. Gandolph plays a great part in this flick. He is what one would call a good wizard. The war of middle earth has so much action that it keeps you at the balls of your feet wishing to see more. The finale is one of excitement and joy. If you were to view this movie, you would be so entertained and you wouldn't get out of your seat. If and when your purchase this movie, you can...
review »As one review mentioned, you may not want to take the little ones. This is mostly because it is intense and terms used would not be recognizable to them. As has already been said, masterfully made, breathtaking and stunning, mystical and adventurous. Improves on the book and on the prior animated movies. Each movie can stand alone, though watching in order from first to last [which...
review »Return of the King represents the culmination of Tolkien's trilogy, and it doesn't disappoint! Peter Jackson and his brilliant cast and crew wrap up this remarkable story with passion and power. I find this movie the most inspiring of the three, and that is saying something. I recommend watching all three movies (extended version, of course!) in one marathon session. That gives you the best feel for the story arc.
