Lorac AquaPrime Review

If you have read any of my reviews in the past, you might be wondering why I talk about being natural and colorful at the same time.  Well, as an artist, I am constantly adopting a new completely different look.  I will change my hair, eyecolor, skintone, clothing and makeup as well, keeping my skills sharp to meet new challenges.  Some days I might adopt a really wild heavily made up look and many times I just opt for a very natural fresh look.

One of the best things that I have come across in my quest for natural type makeup products is the LORAC AQUA PRIME Makeup Primer.  Not only is it an excellent primer, but great anti aging skincare too!

WHAT IS LORAC AQUA PRIME AND WHY USE IT?

Have you ever had the experience when you put your makeup on and take the time to make it look just right, and go out the door feeling confident?  Have you had the experience that same day that you happen to pass a mirror and suddenly you realize in horror that your facial skin looks dehydrated, or that your makeup has settled into your facial lines making you look scads older?

I have had this happen with every kind of makeup that there is out there.  I have even had it happen with my usual scant makeup of Mineralized Skinfinish and blush that I often wear.  Sometimes the powder will just sit there on top of my skin making me look and feel really parched and older.

LORAC AQUA PRIME MAKEUP PRIMER is a fantastic new take on the primer collection of products out there.  A makeup primer is designed to make the foundation and subsequent makeup added to that stay on really well and not flake or come off.  It is also supposed to prevent makeup settling as well.

I have tried quite a few primers from LAURA GELLER SPACKLE to SMASHBOX primers (I have tried both the light and the regular) with very little success.  In fact, I had someone do my makeup with SMASHBOX Photo Finish Light primer and I looked quite parched and icky within an hour of application.

LORAC AQUA PRIME is designed to be more of what I would call a skin primer.  It plumps the skin up so that it looks youthful and dewy and you can even wear it without makeup over it and look a lot better than if you did not use it.    It lasts all day.

HOW DOES LORAC PRIMER WORK?

When I first got the LORAC AQUA PRIME, I was not impressed.  In fact, for the high price tag, I was angry and about ready to return the product to the store.

It comes in a tube that is similar to a squeeze tube, but it has a pump on top.  You press the pump and some clear liquid squirts out (sometimes a bit erractically so be ready).  You apply to the face and it is supposed to work.

Well, it did nothing for me.

I complained loudly at Sephora, who just by chance happened to have the LORAC rep there the previous day and the girls told me that I had to apply the LORAC AQUA PRIME FIRST to my skin before ANYTHING ELSE.

Then once I applied the AQUA PRIME to my face, I had to put my moisturizer OVER the primer.  Once I had done that, I could apply makeup as desired.

Well, that sounded totally stupd to me.  Why would I do THAT?

But I tried it anyway.  WOW!  What a difference.  My face really does look more youthful when it is so dry and miserable in the dregs of winter when usually NOTHING helps.

I found my face to be youthful, dewy and makeup did last all day long.  

Apparently, AQUA PRIME contains hyalrounic acid which takes moisture from the moisturizer and sends it into the skin.  If you do not apply the moisturizer over it to sandwich it in, it will take moisture from the skin and send it into the air.  It is the trapped concept of the Hyalrounic acid with the moisturizer on top that makes it direct the moisture into the skin instead of away from it.

All I know is that it really works well when used properly!

WHAT I THINK OF LORAC AQUA PRIME

I have tried many different moisturizers with LORAC AQUA PRIME MAKEUP PRIMER.  They all work great.  I have even tried it on my lovely husband (who stared at me in horror when he realized I was putting makeup primer on his face) and used as a simple moisturizing enhancer it really worked amazingly well.

I saw my husband's face look really nice and youthful when I applied the LORAC AQUA PRIME under facial moisturizer.  So, you don't need to use makeup to make this valuable.  It is a great anti aging skincare item.

The only trouble I have with LORAC AQUA PRIME MAKEUP PRIMER is that the first squirt tends to clog up a bit and it might shoot wildly past my hand.  All I do is take my hand and cup it around the pump at first and all is fine.

A little goes a long way.  Four pumps will cover my face, neck and chest area which I think is pretty good compared to the other products I tried.

The price is a bit steep at $30 a tube, but I have had mine for a few months now and use it quite often and have a lot left.  Sometimes if you wait for gift certificates or discounts to Sephora or Ulta you can get it for a lot less.
